This includes leveraging and engaging business line partners within these communities. This position's emphasis is as the Community Development Outreach Team lead for the execution of the Bank's CRA Qualified Volunteer Plan and performance associated with the service test, as well as coordination and administration of the Bank's CRA Grants, sponsorships and memberships associated with the investment test.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
- Service as a CRA and Community Development Serves as a CRA/CD representative to the Bank's communities and organizations in a defined assessment area/geography.
- Support the execution of the Bank's overall CRA Plan and achievement of its CRA Performance Goals (lending, investments, services).
- Collaborate in gathering, preparing and/or maintaining data/documentation as necessary which supports CRA compliance/Exam. Promotes company involvement throughout the community.
- Aid in preparing and providing relevant information to senior management, the CRA Committee, and CRA Market Task Forces, as requested or as needed.
- Assist in the coordination of the Community Needs Assessment/Community Partner Roundtable Meetings (every 2 to 3 years) throughout the Assessment Areas, recognizing needs of the community and in preparation of the CRA Exam.
- Collaborate with CDO Team in the gathering, preparing and/or maintaining documentation as necessary that supports CRA qualifications, services, and activities.
- Identify, develop, implement, and manage the execution of the Bank's CRA Qualified Volunteer Plan and associated activities and services in collaboration with Community Development Outreach Team members throughout the Bank's CRA Assessment Areas. This includes the identification and creation of volunteer activities as well as volunteer hours reporting, tracking, approving and validating on the Bank's online volunteer system's support. Currently, the Bank's online Go for More Volunteering (G4MV).
- Recommends best practices to support ongoing CRA-qualified volunteer services and activities.
- Possess a good understanding of CRA and Community Development: terminology, credit products, community development partners, programs, and services.
- Ensures all CRA financial education programs and tracking reports are accurate, timely and complete against established annual CRA Guidelines tied into CRA service hours requirements. Organizes CRA community meetings, including preparing minutes, invitations, and other materials as appropriate.
- Act as a liaison and assist with creating a collaborative environment with all Lines of Businesses that encourage building relationships that promote CRA opportunities for community partners in: Lending, Investments, and Services.
- Continued internal relationships with Corporate/Community Development Finance and the Retail Department for collaborative opportunities in CRA.
- Collaborate with and provide support as needed to the Bank's iCARE Initiative on community development and employee volunteering related activities. Enter all payments for the iCARE Annual Thanksgiving donations to Food Banks.
- Provides support to the CRA/CD Officer in identifying gaps within assigned assessment areas and develop and present individualized gap strategy plans to Division and line of business leaders to assist each market in meeting their established annual CRA Guidelines.
- Aid in promoting BankUnited's Community Development efforts, including serving on boards, committees, and leadership positions. Maximum 4 Boards.
- Recommend and ensure that BankUnited has a presence in the appropriate community positions on related boards, committees, and workgroups.
- Maintain and develop contact with community leaders, groups, related government departments, and other appropriate associations.
- Assist in providing information, solutions, and respond to inquiries related to Community Development and CRA (both internal and external partners).
- Leverage and engage business line partners in the interaction and participation with key community partners with the goal of increasing employee volunteering and maintaining volunteer service relationships. This includes providing CRA/community development guidance to business line partners.
- Manage the process and budget for CRA Grants, Sponsorships, and Memberships within the Bank's CRA Assessment Areas.
- Review and Decision grants and sponsorships in designated markets. Provide grant review and decisioning assistance in other markets as needed.
- Assist in training Grant Coordinator and new Community Development and Outreach Officer(s).
- Assist with the development, implementation, review, management, and analysis of CDO software: G4MV, Kadince and Candid.
- Travel is required: 30% of time throughout the Bank's Assessment Areas in Florida, New York, and Texas.
- Community Development and Outreach is a Resource for the Bank and occasionally, may take on special Bank projects (including, non-CRA).
- Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
- Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
- Identifies and reports suspicious activity.
