Community Engagement Manager
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Charm City Care Connection (CCCC) works to connect those impacted by drug use in Baltimore City to high-quality healthcare services and address any obstacles that might threaten that connection. All of our work is rooted in dignity, justice, and respect and centers members of affected communities in the planning and programming of our organization. Since our founding in 2010, CCCC has worked within a harm reduction framework by meeting people where they're at; since 2018, we have increased our harm reduction services to include a syringe services program, naloxone distribution, a drop-in center for people who use drugs and a small housing program.
CCCC encourages a collaborative environment where staff are expected to be proactive in their work and encouraged to actively participate in the improvement of service delivery and the development of programs.
JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is a full-time salaried, 40 hours per week position.
CCCC is seeking a Community Engagement Manager. The Community Engagement Manager supports all community engagement activities. This includes having an active role in developing strategy, serving as project manager for all engagement initiatives, developing and maintaining relationships with partner organizations, state and local officials, law enforcement, and other stakeholders. This person will seek out new partners and opportunities to join with other community-based organizations to achieve CCCC's mission, values, and goals. The Community Engagement Manager reports directly to the Director of Community Engagement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Attend community association meetings, community forums, BPD crime and community meetings, and town hall meetings relevant to clients served by CCCC and the surrounding community.
* Collaborate with the Director of Community Engagement to develop messaging strategies about CCCC's services and the movement around OPC's
* Track and analyze engagement metrics to continuously improve our approach.
* Serve as one of CCCC's representatives on the Bridges Coalition by attending their open meetings and discussions, continuously assessing potential for deeper collaboration, and regularly delivering updates to CCCC staff and participants.
* Develop and maintain relationships with partner organizations, state and local officials, law enforcement, and other stakeholders. This includes collaborating with the Director of Community Engagement to schedule site visits, tours, and information sessions for state and city officials.
* Serve as project manager for community engagement and public safety response initiatives. This includes receiving and monitoring complaints concerning syringe litter within the community.
* Facilitate education and training for staff, clients, and volunteers about city and state policy, advocacy, and legislative processes. This includes staff, client, and volunteer participation in city and state advocacy activities (attending hearings at city hall and in Annapolis).
* Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
* Attend and participate in weekly CCCC leadership team meetings.
This position is hybrid with 3 days in the office and 2 working remotely.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* An active interest in harm reduction and social justice as it pertains to individuals who use drugs and communities impacted by the war on drugs.
* Must be organized, a self-motivated team-player, with interpersonal skills, and the ability and willingness to be hands-on and solve problems as they arise
* Ability to work with diverse communities (gender, sexuality, ethnic, age, language, etc,)
* Familiar with community associations in Baltimore City preferred
* Commitment to working with people who use drugs in a way that affirms dignity and humanity
* Proficiency in computer packages including MS Office applications, especially Excel and G Suite, is required.
* Must be organized and have strong time-management skills
* Self-motivated team-player, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability and willingness to be hands-on and solve problems as they arise
* Ability to work with diverse communities (gender, ethnic, age, language, political)
* Ability to master a wide range of information and communicate accordingly
* Excellent communication skills ; including public speaking
* Self-motivated to identify and attend professional development training opportunities
* Great attitude and people skills are a must
TIMELINE AND COMPENSATION
The Community Engagement Manager is a full-time salaried position, ranging from $65-75k, commensurate with qualifications and experience. CCCC offers an excellent benefits package including a medical plan and 240 hours of paid time off per year.
