Job Description:

The Community Engagement Manager will implement the Alzheimer's Association's program delivery and growth strategy to reach more people in Orange County, California with volunteer-delivered programs, especially in new, underrepresented communities. This position is responsible for recruiting, engaging, growing and coaching volunteers, coordinating education and awareness activities in the community while meeting Association best practices to achieve growth goals and benchmarks. The position also supports the chapter's support groups and volunteer support group facilitators.

Responsibilities

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Maintain a portfolio of community partners in a designated geography using a relationship sales approach to grow the Association's program reach. Expand collaborative agreements with current partners in community networks, organizations, service providers, nonprofits and faith institutions. Identify and elevate new community partnerships prospects to supervisor.

Manage incoming education and program tabling event requests to ensure program coverage.

Recruit, train and lead volunteers to deliver and grow programs in designated markets. Provide ongoing technical assistance, including coaching and support with presentation technology. Conduct ongoing volunteer Mission Conversations as assigned and take appropriate action to improve volunteer performance, if needed.

Create urgency for our cause by promoting a full-mission value proposition to support Alzheimer's Association campaigns such as quality care, fundraising and advocacy efforts throughout communities.

Ensure timely and accurate reporting of program, community impact and volunteer performance data as well as grant-funded projects (where applicable).

Fully integrates DEI activities into all programs and services.

Partners with all mission pillars (Public Policy, Development, Concern and Awareness, Health Systems, Operations) to advance internal key performance indicators. Examples may include: recruiting advocates, making telephone calls to promote Walk to End Alzheimer's, and providing media interviews). Attends annual events such as Walk to End Alzheimer's, InspirationALZ Gala.

Travels to communities in Orange County area to deliver education and represent the Association at tabling events, whenever virtual or volunteer delivery is not possible.

Qualifications

Bilingual in English and one of the following languages preferred - Chinese, Vietnamese, or Korean (fluent oral and written)

Bachelor's degree in education, Social Work, Human Services, Gerontology, Nursing,

Public Health, or volunteer management; preferred: Master's in public health or social

Three years' experience, preferred, working in the dementia or aging field, or in public health setting.

At least one year of Volunteer Management, including volunteer recruiting, training, managing and evaluating, preferred.

Public speaking experience, preferred.

Experience with diverse and underserved communities, preferred.

Knowledge of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Skills in listening, assessment, empathy, advocacy, collaboration, and exploring opportunities for further engagement.

Organized, detail oriented, learns quickly, and open to change.

Flexibility needed to cover scheduled education and table events which may occur outside of business hours and on weekends.

Comfortable with different virtual technology platforms and providing general orientation and technical support to volunteers.

Able to recognize and cultivate relationships with targeted partners/organizations and diverse populations to create sense of urgency related to dementia awareness as a major health problem and motivate to action.

Ability to effectively collaborate with others, hold others accountable and reach mutually agreeable outcomes.

Ability to represent the Association effectively to community partners, community leaders, corporate partners.

Proficient with providing ongoing feedback and mentoring to volunteers.

Proven experience in community service development and sustained program integration.

Model and foster behaviors that contribute to a culture that values the staff/volunteer/ community partnership and is consistent with the Association's goals, best practices, and core values.

Strong organizational skills and project coordination experience.

General knowledge of dementia.

General knowledge of community health, community-based organizations and systems.

Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends, when necessary.

Full time based on 37.5 hours per week minimum

Position Grade: 305 Exempt ($69,500-$72,000)
