Position Summary: Enhancing community engagement and capacity within Community Building Workshops (CBW) and Community Building Skills Trainings (CBST) by involving local businesses, community partners, and residents in workshops. Researching and creating outreach strategies to boost attendance at workshops and expand participation to new groups. Improving awareness of CBM and CBWs through effective communication and targeted outreach campaigns.

Minimal Qualifications and Salary Schedule: High school diploma; ability to type 45 WPM; proficiency with Word and Excel; no convictions that would fail a criminal background check and prevent working in correctional centers; valid drivers license; automobile and sufficient insurance to meet agency requirements. Associate or bachelors Degree highly preferred.
Work Relationship and Scope: Reports directly to the CBM Project Coordinator. Has contact with a wide variety of individuals including Project Team members, Steering Committee members, Research and Evaluation Committee members, Facilitators-in-Training, Certified Facilitators of CBWs, staff of CBM partner agencies and institutions, participants in CBWs, clients, staff, vendors, funders, government representatives and employees, especially health care and other business representatives, and the general public.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong communication skills to effectively connect with individuals and diverse communities, as well as excellent interpersonal skills to establish relationships with partners and stakeholders. They should have knowledge of outreach strategies and experience in creating effective plans, along with proficiency in social media and digital marketing for promoting initiatives. The Outreach Specialist must also exhibit strong organizational abilities to coordinate activities and events, while demonstrating cultural competency and sensitivity in working with diverse populations. Additionally, problem-solving skills are essential to address challenges in outreach efforts. The ideal candidate should also display flexibility, adaptability, and a genuine passion for community building. Furthermore, they should have strong organizational, computer, typing (45 WPM), and data entry skills, proficiency in Word and Excel, efficient time management, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in both an office environment and in visits to businesses, as well as in various Community Building Workshop settings and in CBM partner agencies and institutions; most of the work is done sitting at a desk and using a computer; hours average 20-29 hours per week; flexible work schedule involves some evening and weekend work time.
Physical Demands: Work is frequently sedentary but active from time to time when dealing with Community Building Workshop logistics; duties require good hearing and the ability to communicate verbally; hand and finger dexterity for typing and data entry; ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds.
