Travel and remote work assignments are required. Remote work locations outside of Tallahassee may be approved for highly qualified candidates. Highly qualified candidates will have experience in school health services and/or two years of service with the Department of Health.This position is supervised by the Executive Community Health Nursing Director, School Health Services Program Administrator and is responsible for assisting with the Administration of Florida Department of Health School Health Services Program. The primary duties of this position include:* Ability and willingness to travel statewide year-round for multiple days when on work assignments. Ability and willingness to travel in the most economical means available to the state while performing job duties.* Function as a state liaison for county-level School Health programs with a caseload of no less than 20 counties. This includes but is not limited to:* Serves as a liaison with school health service program leadership in assigned county (DOH, LEA, Contracted Partners).* Assures that methods of acquiring data sets needed to meet the requirements of school health reporting and monitoring are met. Works with local offices to meet central office needs.* Updates and generates all forms, reports, and calendars needed for programmatic deliverables (monitoring, education, outreach). Assists local county programs in reporting requested data and with the processing and formatting of data for state office priorities.* Facilitates and ensures open lines of communication between central office and field office they are serving directly. Keeps continuous track of local contacts.* Provides education and updates regarding school health services when required.* Assists with the assessments and evaluation of local School Health programs. Understands and can communicate the structure and operational capacity of the various programs under their responsibility.* Reviews, evaluates, and validates statistical data for the School Health programs.* Assists in the formulation of policies and procedures for nursing and support services.* Perform county level school health program monitoring on a rotating schedule using various methods of monitoring including required in-person travel monitoring.In collaboration with team, helps to provide technical assistance on issues related to School Health. Assists in preparation and review of drafted documents. Develops responses to emails and phone inquiries relative to school health issues as assigned. Receives approval before disseminating programmatic responses.Provides support effort for data collection and quality improvement efforts regarding school health data capture, aggregation and visualization methods, processes, and programmatic end goals for data sets. Assists county health department staff in completing manual and electronic versions of the School Health Services Plan and the Annual School Health Services Report, and other ad hoc reports and data sets as required'Assists with the development and review of policies, standards, manuals, reports necessary for the implementation and management of school health services and initiatives funded by the legislature. Assists leadership with analysis of school health reports and plans and participates in the development of grants and grant reviews.Participates in the development of grants and grant reviews. Participates in the development of legislative budget requests, bill analysis, and annual reports. Helps develop graphic displays, presentations and other visuals/program materials or as needed.Participates in quality improvement desk audits and site visits including the analysis of epidemiological data review of school health procedures and records, and application of problem-solving techniques to enhance health services for school aged children.Performs other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to effectively educate and counsel clients regarding health-related information. Ability to maintain confidential information in accordance with state and federal statutes, rules, regulations, and Department of Health policy as it relates to Information Custodian. Knowledge of School Health requirements and the pediatric health environment. Ability to develop health related presentations and provide training. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with health care providers, community organizations and school personnel and other DOH staff. Knowledge and skill of providing services to the pediatric population and school health services Ability to learn and follow processes and procedures. Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and techniques. Skill in use of computers, including Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel, Teams. Ability to independently utilize equipment and computer systems within two months of hire. Ability to function effectively with intermittent supervision. Ability to use continuous quality improvement methods and tools to monitor program effectiveness and outcomes. Ability to have transportation daily. Ability to work effectively with clients, community partners and other DOH staff. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively in multiple forms of communication. Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
