DescriptionJob DescriptionThe Hispanic Health Council is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the Hispanic community through culturally sensitive programs and services. We are committed to reducing health disparities and promoting health equity.Responsibilities:
- Community Engagement: Assist in organizing and participating in community health events and workshops. Build relationships with community members to understand their health needs and concerns.
- Health Education: Support the creation and distribution of educational materials on various health topics relevant to the Hispanic community. Participate in delivering health education presentations.
- Education: Help develop and deliver culturally relevant health education materials and workshops to inform the community about health issues and preventive care.
- Client Support: Provide support to clients by helping them navigate healthcare systems, including scheduling appointments, understanding medical instructions, and accessing available resources.
- Data Collection: Assist in collecting and maintaining accurate client records and data for program evaluation and reporting purposes.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including healthcare professionals and community partners, to ensure a coordinated approach to community health.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Required to travel to site locations.This is an unpaid internship. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience providing services to community individuals.
- Experience participating in community advocacy projects.
- Ability to listen and provide support to individual clients.
- Knowledge of technical platforms (Microsoft Suite: Excel, Teams, etc.)
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work flexible work hours, including pre-scheduled nights and weekends
- Strong communication and organizational skills
QualificationsCurrently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Public Health, Social Work, or a related field.Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with at-risk populations
- Bilingual -- Spanish
