Applicants for staff positions do not need to have a barrier to employment to be eligible for these roles.**To ensure full consideration for a staff position, please attach a resume to your application so we can gain a complete view of your experiences* Peckham Inc. - Community LiaisonSUMMARYThe Community Liaison, as a representative of Peckham and State employment initiatives, grows business relationships in an effort to provide work experiences for individuals enrolled in Peckham's Community Employment Programs. This position interacts with Community partners and the relationships between clients to provide information in response to inquiries about Peckham Community Employment services including, subsidized employment opportunities, on the job training and volunteer positions. This position also resolves customer concerns, and provides the highest level of customer service. Another primary responsibility is, providing clients with vocational guidance and coaching. This is a grant funded position.MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Develop business relationships with local employers to provide community service, paid/unpaid work experience and workfare opportunities for clients.
  • Provide individualized job development for clients.
  • Counsel clients to help them understand and overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting their vocational situations.
  • Provide crisis intervention between business partners, clients and Peckham Community Employment programs.
  • Confer with business partners and case managers to discuss clients' progress, and determine priorities for client resource needs.
  • Work with job applicants to determine their strengths, interests, functional limitations, and potential utilization of Assistive Technology and other job accommodations.
  • Provide written documentation of site-specific work conditions, client assessments, workplace injuries, etc.
  • Consult with Career Coaches regarding client vocational planning and objectives.
  • Monitor client participation, compliance, and scheduling to meet program requirements.
  • Foster public relations to enhance relationships with existing referral sources and community agencies.
  • Support career and employment-related activities for clients, such as employer-led work readiness seminars, work-experience programs, job fairs, and career workshops.
  • Provide Rapid Response services as needed.
  • Attend Meetings for client service planning.
  • Support outcome measures, key indicators, and other Peckham monthly/quarterly reports.
  • Utilize a team work approach for all projects.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Promote Peckham's vision, values, and services to all customers and stakeholders.
  • Assist in maintaining organization wide quality standards.
  • Assist in the training of people with disabilities.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's degree in business, human/social services, or equivalent of 4 years related experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and typing are a must.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in human/social services, business, or equivalent: or 8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Greater Lansing-area employers and community agencies
  • GCDF or BSP preferred.
