OverviewAbout the Program: Jamaica Community Partnership organizes local public and private stakeholders; builds their capacity to support and stabilize families; and engages them with ACS and other City agencies through coordinated service referral, community-led programs, community awareness efforts, and informing City policy and practice related to child and family well-being.Job Summary: The community organizer will perform work involving planning, implementation, coordination and monitoring of community. The Community Coordinator will actively create and sustain partnerships. He or she will seek service linkages and communication with intergovernmental agencies and community-based organizations.ResponsibilitiesConduct outreach to the community (individually and as a team member) to build strong relationships with community members, residents, businesses, and community groups â ¢ Maintain relationships with members and stakeholders in the community â ¢ Provide referrals to programs and opportunities in the community â ¢ Coordinate and promote workshops and events where community stakeholders and agencies partner to communicate and deliverâ ¢ Assist with maintaining data tracking systems for program activitiesâ ¢ Liaison with community-based organizations and city government to build synergy and expand programmatic offerings â ¢ Coordinate and promote themed events geared towards program goals where community organizations and members communicateâ ¢ Help identify new community groups, public and private initiatives with which to build relationshipsâ ¢ Help identify emerging community issues to help guide the communities response â ¢ Work with CPP Program Director to create and deliver outreach materials, talking points and presentation materials â ¢ Document all work including meeting minutes, referrals, etc. â ¢ Provide opportunities for community members to work and celebrate together in order to foster a sense of belonging, pride and mutual responsibility.Qualificationsâ ¢ At least 3 years' experience working in community-based programs serving children, youth and families. Bachelors Degree Requiredâ ¢ Community organizing experience and knowledge required â ¢ Knowledge and experience conducting outreach required â ¢ Experience with the Jamaica Community required â ¢ Excellent verbal and written communication skills required â ¢ Experience with presentations and/or training diverse groups preferred â ¢ Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes late evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as neededSupervisory ResponsibilityNo.Work Environment:â ¢ Cubicle spaceâ ¢ Community events, meetings, forums - virtual and in person.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: â ¢ Full timeâ ¢ 35 hours per week.Travel (if required): â ¢ Ability to travel with-in and around the community.â ¢ Drivers license (preferred) to utilize mobile resource vehiclePhysical Requirements:â ¢ Ability to lift 50 poundsOther Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
