Intern Position Description
Position Summary: The Community Programs Intern will work collaboratively with Community Programs and staff on a range of outreach initiatives, including, but not limited to, monthly food distribution programs, community education and support initiatives, and health fairs.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist with monthly food distribution programs, including unloading boxes and filling individual grocery bags.
- Participate in summer Local Harvest program, providing free produce to older adults in housing sites and Councils on Aging.
- Administer satisfaction surveys for Local Harvest.
- Attend and represent the agency at community events such as outreach and networking events, health fairs, and community presentations.
- Educate older adults, people with disabilities, caregivers, and other community members and partners on the range of programs and services AgeSpan offers.
- Assist other agency outreach projects as needed, such as coordinating the Merrimack Valley Veterans Collaborative, data collection and entry, and health promotion programs.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and an interest in working with older adults and people with disabilities.
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel in our service area.
- Must be able to lift 30lbs repetitively (as food programs require lifting grocery boxes).
Hours: Flexible hours, Monday-Friday during business hours. Availability on Tuesday mornings preferred to assist with food distribution programs.
