Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Community Solutions, the Community Solutions Manager leads a team and human animal support programs that help keep pets and people together. The Community Solutions Manager develops, improves, and implements programs and partnerships to preserve the human-animal bond while supporting team well-being, growth, and culture.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
* Lead by action and example to advance a culture of positivity, professionalism, trust, transparency, empathy, and excellence at Joybound.
* Align programs with the organization's core values, goals, strategic commitments, DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) initiatives, and community needs.
* Develop and support a high performing team in a dynamic and evolving department.
Departmental Support and Collaboration
* Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, commend, coach, and/or counsel direct and/or indirect reports.
* Assign roles and responsibilities to meet departmental goals, use team member strengths, and offer professional growth opportunities.
* Consult and coordinate with staff to identify department's potential volunteer positions, procedures, prerequisites, and onboarding protocol.
* Point person for training organizational staff on best practices in human animal support services, access to care, and liaise with other animal well-being professionals.
Program Management
* In collaboration with the Director of Community Solutions, develop and implement team training curriculum, consistently streamlining and modernizing content and delivery systems to ensure training meets teams' needs.
* Continuously evaluate all aspects of Community Solutions, recommending improvements to senior leadership as appropriate.
* Communicate clearly and support an atmosphere of trust, transparency, and support to staff and volunteers.
* Respectfully and compassionately counsel community members seeking assistance, advice, and referrals for pet-related matters.
* Assess client needs and develop the care plan, including required funding. Partner with clients to obtain necessary services.
* Plan, lead, and participate in community outreach events.
* Ensure inventory and distribution of pet supplies to meet programmatic needs.
* Maintain confidentiality of all information.
Administration & Reporting
* Prepare monthly statistical reports, including tracking of program metrics and other reports as needed, managing and analyzing data.
* Maintain departmental budget by tracking budgeted expenses and departmental impact data, reporting metrics to illustrate effectiveness.
* Write and maintain accurate case notes for clients.
Additional Responsibilities
* Fulfill commitments to corporate and individual sponsors in a way that inspires sponsor satisfaction and renewal.
* Support events, fundraising, and media spots as requested.
* Drive Joybound vehicles as assigned and follow safe driving practices.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Must have a minimum of 2 years of management experience including hiring, coaching, and performance management to support staff success.
* Demonstrated appreciation for the human-animal bond.
* Proficiency with conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
* Enthusiasm for working with clients and team members to find humane outcomes keeping pets and people together.
* Demonstrated flexibility and proactive problem-solving skills and initiative to work with minimal supervision.
* Proven organizational and planning skills with a demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects and teams.
* Excellent motivator with experience in coaching, mentoring, and holding individuals and work units accountable for their results.
* Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and address issues and opportunities.
* Ability to communicate comfortably and effectively with volunteers, one-on-one, in small groups, and to large audiences.
* Experience supervising personnel delivering services related to the well-being of dogs and cats preferred.
* Proficient in computer skills including MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Access). Ability to learn new database systems and develop consistent procedures for these systems. Experience with ShelterBuddy preferred.
* Must have a valid California Driver's License and must not have more than two at-fault incidents in a three-year period and no major at-fault violations in the last ten years and must be insured.
* Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required.
* At least two years of experience in case management and/or social work field preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Specific physical abilities required by this job include:
* Work environment includes constant exposure to animals and animal allergens.
* Tetanus and rabies inoculations are required or must be waived.
* Drive an automobile.
* Flex the neck upward and downward; twist the neck and the waist.
* Sit for extended periods of time while using a computer.
* Push/pull moderately heavy objects up to 50 pounds with reasonable accommodation.
* Lift and move objects up to 50 pounds for short distances with reasonable accommodation.
* Complete physical work relative to setting up and breaking down event sites, loading/unloading trucks, moving tables & chairs, etc.
* Kneel, bend, stoop, squat, reach above and below shoulder level, grasp and turn objects, stand, and/or walk frequently and repetitively throughout each shift.
* Sit through meetings of an hour or longer.
Hours:
Full-time, exempt position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week, including occasional evening and/or weekend work. Hours and workdays may vary according to the needs of the department.
