DescriptionAs a Companion Caregiver, you will provide compassionate, empathetic, reliable, and attentive companionship to our residents to ensure they lead safe, healthy lives. Your focus in this role will be to engage with residents in conversation (companionship) and accompanying residents safely via transportation to and from social activities and medical, and other appointments. This role is essential to the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the resident in your charge. The Companion Caregiver will provide emotional support as clients heal or cope with disabilities, aging, sickness, or surgery as well as involvement in the coordination and communication with their care team. You should have strong communication and planning skills and be willing to meet the physical demands of the position and comply with all safety, medical, and dietary directions.OVERVIEW OF THE LODGES COMPANY:At the Lodges Company, we care most about the people we serve and the people we employ. Our goal is to create peaceful homes where our clients are supported physically, mentally and emotionally. The Lodges operates 12 residential care homes that offer 24 hour assisted living services. RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School education preferred.
  • Must be 18 yrs. of age or older.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
  • Previous experience caring/working with the elderly or people with disabilities is preferred.
  • Experience in supporting ADL support is a requirement.
  • Physical stamina is necessary to care for resident in your charge.
  • Must live out company's values and maintain a values score of 4+.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal and/or abuse background check, and drug screening.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Driver's License and proof of valid car insurance required
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND TASKS:Job Function: Medication Administration Tasks:
  • Provide conversation and personal engagement to resident(s) in your charge.
  • Support resident(s) socialization goals.
  • Complete documentation as required of all completed tasks.
  • Provide transportation to resident(s) in your charge to medical/other appointments, social activities, shopping, or other locations/events off site as needed.
  • Support resident(s) with toileting/changing as needed while offsite.
  • The ability to take detailed note from provider during medical appointments is a requirement.
Job Function: Participate and function effectively as a team memberTasks:
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with other Unlicensed Personnel, Nursing staff, and all other Lodges' staff.
  • Provide back up to other staff as needed to ensure 24 hours staffing.
  • Communicate information regarding resident care needs and changes to the team.
  • Provide proactive and constructive participation in staff meetings.
  • Be compassionate and work with tact and ethical awareness.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to changing situations.
  • Responds appropriately to safety hazards, fire, weather, or emergency situations.
  • Follow through promptly on requested duties.
  • Assist with meal preparation, serving, feeding, and clean up.
  • Provide on-the-job training for new associates.
  • Must be mature and emotionally stable using a calm and kind tone of voice.
  • The ability to remain calm in difficult or unusual circumstances.
