- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- 2-5 years' experience as a personal care assistant, sitter or personal companion
- First Aid/CPR Certification & Safe Driving Course (must have ability to complete prior to or within specified time period)
- Must be at least 18 years old and Companions that drive must be 21 years of age and can provide proof of state minimum auto insurance
- Comfort level with accessing basic computer applications or willingness and ability to learn in order to access work schedules
- CNA certification a plus
Job DutiesThe Companion - Personal Care Attendant offers assistance with activities of daily living as well as non-clinical assistance, companionship and support to residents and clients with one-on-one care.Companions provide generalized attention to the needs of residents and clients and are responsible for ensuring a safe, clean environment and observing any changes that should be reported.Assists residents and clients with getting to appointments and running errands.The ideal candidate for this position has a high school diploma/GED and has one to two years of experience as a personal care assistant, sitter, or personal companion. Experience and training as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) a plus. In addition, he or she has a genuine desire to work with and experience working with the senior population. First Aid/CPR Certification is required (or must have ability to complete these requirements within a specified time period).Effective oral and written skills, empathy and the ability to listen. Represents the company in a professional manner and uses good judgement.
