POSITION SUMMARY
The Elizabeth Seton Children Center facilitates companionshipbetween resident's who have increased behavioral needs which are placated with a loving presence. As a companion, you will facilitate companionship between residents who have increased behavioral needs, placing them with a loving presence and ensuring their safety in the least restrictive environment.
JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Report on and off duty to the nurse manager, or house supervisor, or charge nurse.
- Performs assigned duties under the direction of the charge nurse, or nurse manager, or house supervisor.
- Keep resident's safe and in the least restrictive environment.
- Don and Doff PPE as needed.
- Gather needed supplies/clothing for care to be performed by the CNA.
- Functions as an adult role model for residents.
- Promptly report any escalating behaviors to the RN.
- Be aware of facility policy on child abuse and/or neglect and promptly report any instances of abusive or inappropriate behaviors towards any resident to the nurse manager.
- Knows and follows the policy and procedures with regard to infection control including, hand washing, and types of isolation.
- Keep resident care area clean and free of clutter.
- Assists in maintaining cleanliness of resident's area.
- Accompany resident to participate in group and outside activities.
- Report any unsafe conditions immediately to the nurse manager.
- Documents on behavior question in EMR every 2 hours and PRN for episodic outbursts.
- Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your nurse manager, supervisor, department director, and/or administrator.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma Required
Experience working with children preferred
Employee Requirements:
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.
- Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies.
- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary.
Working Conditions:
- Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area.
- Will be subject to frequent interruptions.
- May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
Salary Range:
$21.42/Hr to $23.24/Hr
