At the discretion of the hiring department, this position posting may close once a sufficient number of qualified applications have been received.Salary Range: Up to $52,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.Hours: 40 hours per week, non-exempt.Required Application Materials:* Resume is required.* Cover letter is preferred.Essential FunctionsJob SummaryProvides a broad range of analytical and technical support to assigned human resource functions including information system updates, classification and compensation; and performs tasks related to compensation statistics and market analysis. The Compensation Specialist will process personnel forms (eForms), handle routine compensation request for information and/or interpretations of policies and rules, and assists in the preparation of job descriptions and maintain the job description repository.Core Responsibilities* Assist the Compensation Analyst with gathering data for job evaluation reviews in order to establish/validate relevant duties, exemption status, and appropriate salary grade.* Ensure all job description additions and changes are properly reflected in the online job description repository.* Assist in the preparation and submission of various compensation salary surveys.* Provide UTSA Compensation policy guidance to employees and management.* Assist Compensation Analyst with annual salary structure updates and other major projects.* Approve submitted eForms personnel action request.* Audit, maintain and update database of all job descriptions according to standard functional areas and maintain various tools and template to ensure compensation data integrity.* Assist with implementing and updating UTSA's compensation program, including merit increases and monitor adjustments to ensure accuracy.* Ensure compensation practices are in compliance with federal and state laws, including reporting requirements.* Performs other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.* 3 years of experience in Human Resources Compensation.* Knowledge of all federal and state laws regarding Fair Labor Standards Act, and other federal laws regulating employee compensation.* Computer skills with experience in microsoft suite.* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.* Analytical skills to understand and apply research and statistics in report writing and decision-making.* Ability to work with limited supervision.* Ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.* Ability to recognize inconsistencies and resolve issues through data analytics.* Ability to develop a plan to prioritize and accomplish work in a timely manner.* Ability to analyze, problem solve, organize and manage multiple priorities, and effectively follow up in a fast-paced environment.* Ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships through strong interpersonal skills including consistent demonstration of solid professional judgement.Preferred Qualifications* Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field.* Similar experience in higher education.* Familiar with PeopleSoft.Additional Information* UTSA is a tobacco free campus.* This is a security sensitive position.
