Job Description: Our client is looking for a dynamic and thoughtful candidate to join their insurance team as a Compliance Associate. This opportunity allows contribution to the development, launch and growth of an insurance carrier, backed by a seasoned management team and resources from a successful offshore sister company. This role will focus on front-line responsibilities, including evaluating annuity contract suitability, monitoring agent sales practices and overseeing the appointment process.This individual will help develop and enhance governance, risk and compliance oversight programs, including creating a risk assessment program, developing policies and procedures, ensuring market conduct readiness, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The role interacts with operations, legal, finance and marketing, providing daily exposure to senior management and insight into all aspects to the annuity business. Candidates should have an interest in insurance and a basic understanding of annuity products. Responsibilities:
- Review annuity applications for suitability, applying state specific regulations and company practices.
- Assist in drafting and revising compliance-related policies and procedures.
- Conduct marketing material and advertisement compliance.
- Monitor compliance-related state and federal regulations, mandated regulations, ensuring that the company's policies, procedures and practices are in compliance with those regulations.
- Assist with responding to governmental inquiries, including consumer complaints.
- Help maintain annual training on anti-money laundering, fraud and code of conduct.
- Provide reports and updates to management on all responsibilities as required by senior management or regulation.
- Partner with management on compliance or operational projects as needed.
Requirements:
- Interest in the insurance industry and passion to help strengthen the compliance and operations teams
- Understanding of the life insurance or annuity business or similarly regulated businesses
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of risk assessment and management inday-to-day operations
- Ability to think independently and strategically
- Ability to consider multiple aspects of the insurance business including product, technology and legal
- Strong knowledge of MicrosoftWord, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Pro
- Can do attitude
- High school diploma required; bachelor's degree (preferred)
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in compliance or operational departments of an annuity or life insurance carrieror similar transferable experience
