Position: Compliance and BSA Assistant Classification: Non-Exempt Position Objectives: The BSA/AML/OFAC Assistant is responsible for assisting the BSA Officer with developing, implementing and administering all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Program, and for assuring the bank complies with the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, and all other applicable laws This position performs various quality control reviews and monitoring in all areas of the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering, Regulatory Compliance, and Audit Programs using industry standard and regulatory guidance to ensure the Bank's compliance efforts are maintained daily. Essential Functions of this position: Service Standards: Adheres to and supports ASB's customer service and professionalism policies to promote an environment that is focused on delivering an exceptional service experience that exceeds customer's expectations and rewards us with their loyalty. Monitored by Risk Manager/Compliance Officer with feedback provided by all bank employees. Operational Standards: • Responsible for the accurate completion and timely filing of CTRs. • Responsible for 314(a) record search and match reporting. • Collect and provide requested documentation to various examiners, auditors, law enforcement and governmental agencies regarding SARs, CTRs, and AML monitoring records. • Perform and document due diligence reviews on exempt customers, high risk customers and new customers as required. • Annual BSA/AML/OFAC training and new employee training. • Attend various training seminars to maintain a proficient working knowledge of the BSA/AML rules. • Perform the duties of the bank's OFAC Coordinator. Specifically responsible for maintaining proficient knowledge of the OFAC rules, updating bank policies and procedures with OFAC and coordinating the training of bank personnel on OFAC policies and procedures. • Provide assistance to the BSA Officer with additional duties as assigned. • Responsible for monthly due diligence of monetary instruments and maintaining a log of findings. Compliance Standards: • Provide support and assistance to the Compliance Manager in the research, monitoring, and implementation of regulatory requirements. Assist in the interpretation and dissemination of information on regulatory matters to our team members. • Maintain a proficient working knowledge of specific regulations as assigned. • Maintain understanding of the regulatory process and follow legislative and regulatory developments. • Provide support and assistance to the Compliance Manager during an examination/audit from the federal regulators and internal/external auditors. • Partner with business segments in compliance training initiatives to ensure employees and management are adequately trained and adept in implementing laws and regulations. • Assist with the audit process by communicating with audit firms, gathering required information for audit completion, and ensuring audit findings are remediated. • Review advertisements and new products to ensure compliance. • With guidance from the Compliance Manager, assist in the monitoring and testing of compliance with various regulations and rules as assigned. • Assist with vendor management duties including requests for documentation from outside service providers, tracking and reporting This position description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; and nothing in this herein restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. Education and Experience • Bachelor's Degree in related field is required, but may be waived in lieu of banking experience directly related to the essential functions of the position • 1 year Banking Operations experience required • 5 Years Banking experience preferred Additional Skills Required • Exceptional analytical skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time • Excellent attention to detail • Effective time management skills • Ability to work independently or with a team • Ability to motivate others in a team environment Physical Requirements • Ability to verbally convey information or ideas to others • Ability to hear average or normal conversational tones • Ability to use wrists, hands or fingers for repetitive motions • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance-mechanical or human • Ability to stand for up to 4 hours at one time • Ability to work late and/or flexible hours • May require minimal travel for training Working Conditions • No Hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions • Climate controlled environment • Noise level is usually moderate Training Requirements • Summary of job specific BSA training is required within 30 days of employment • Online BSA Training must be completed within 30 days of employment • Ongoing online compliance training must be completed on time • Additional training may be required as recommended by management
