Overview

The Compliance Coordinator works across the organization to ensure safe, equitable clinical operations and compliance with regulatory, accreditation and patient/client safety standards. This position advances the culture of safety for clients and staff alike through supporting maintenance of up-to-date agency policies and procedures (P&P), accreditation preparation, effective health center compliance, and general patient safety projects. This position supervises the Compliance and Quality Specialist role.

Key Role Responsibilities

* Advances the culture of safety for clients and staff alike. This includes collaborating with clinical staff and leadership to develop and ensure a safe clinical environment through trainings, P&P, standard operating practices, workflows and plans.

* Tracks and manages the Agency's process of timely review and revision of P&P. Works with Agency leadership to ensure accuracy of P&P. Implements policy and procedure audits to ensure accuracy in tracking and version control.

* Supports the compliance training curriculum, maintaining accurate and up-to-date staff training and working with Human Resources to ensure staff completion. Creates and updates training as needed.

* In collaboration with Quality leadership, supports accreditation, licensing and regulatory activities as established by TJC, MDH, and HRSA, among others. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting in site visits with regulatory or accrediting bodies, researching compliance-related regulations and ensuring agency awareness of relevant information, and helping to ensure a continual state of readiness and adherence to accrediting and regulatory standards.

* Develops, organizes, and executes internal audit processes (e.g., mock surveys, tracer activities, and site visits). Identifies and assesses quality and risk information to collaborate and prepare corrective action plans for health center compliance. Tracks and trends regulatory compliance issues and identifies resources to correct deviations from regulation.

* Supports and leads the incident resolution process and system, including the completion of root cause analyses, implementation of corrective actions and communication to key stakeholders.

* Supports and leads compliance projects, including the risk management plan, through project management and group facilitation. This includes scheduling meetings, planning agendas, developing meeting materials, facilitating discussions, summarizing decisions and next steps, assisting in communication and deliverable development, and implementation planning.

* Ensures that compliance work is done through a an equity and inclusive lens

Key Agency Responsibilities

In addition to role responsibilities, each staff member of Health Care for the Homeless has the following responsibilities as a part of their employment:

* Models and reinforces the Health Care for the Homeless core values of dignity, authenticity, hope, justice, passion and balance

* Actively participates in performance improvement activities and actively participates in advocacy activities that support the mission

* Performs other duties on an as-needed basis

* Protects clients' personal health information by maintaining compliance with HIPAA and other relevant health care related IT security regulations

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Formal Education and Training

* Bachelor's degree required, preferred in Health Care Administration, Public Health, Nursing or Health Policy

* Master's degree in Health Care Administration, Nursing, Public Health or Health Policy preferred

* Project management certificate preferred

Experience

* Three years experience working with complex federal, state and local regulations related to health care required.

* Two years of experience writing health care policies and procedures and creating trainings and curricula

* Experience working with an incident reporting software system preferred

* Experience working in ambulatory care setting preferred
