Compliance Manager
Our client, a dynamic excess and surplus P&C insurer, is seeking an exceptional candidate to support its US legal, underwriting, and claims teams. Core responsibilities will include collaborating with finance, underwriting, and claims teams to ensure regulatory compliance. This role reports to the General Counsel.
Principal Responsibilities:
Ensure that the company follows all relevant laws and regulations by developing, implementing, and updating policies to ensure compliance with current legal standards. Communicate these policies to employees.Conduct audits and risk assessments to identify potential compliance issues and risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Investigate and report any violations to management and regulatory bodies.Keep employees informed about compliance requirements through presentations and training.Identify, streamline, and oversee company processes and procedures to stay current on all matters of corporate and insurance regulatory compliance, including data calls and periodic reporting obligations. Collaborate with the company's business and insurance regulatory counsel on all legal requirements.Develop and manage internal controls to minimize the risk of non-compliance and protect the company's reputation.Catalog data assets by identifying the types of information the company collects and stores, including personal information.Detect and prevent financial crime and fraud.Other responsibilities to be determined at a later date based on individual performance and company requirements.Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree mandatory.A Juris Doctor degree mandatory.An AICP designation would be desirable.Candidates are more likely to be successful if they exhibit a majority of the following characteristics:
Ideally: 5-8 years of specific experience with compliance while employed by a licensed insurance company.Experience with implementing or the strategic development of compliance programs for P&C insurance companies and MGAs.High levels of personal initiative and confidence to work autonomously. Superior interpersonal, communication, and time management skills. The ability to develop and foster relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and to contribute in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and effectively deliver on multiple priority matters.Strong command of all 50 states' (and DC, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands) regulatory concepts and requirements. Comfort with the supervised use of legal or regulatory research tools and resources.Excellent research, detail orientation, creative problem solving and project management skills. Proficiency in enhancing existing processes and feedback loops.The company is open to this being a fully remote role or candidates can work in one of their offices across numerous locations, including Summit, NJ; Alpharetta, GA; Scottsdale, AZ; and Overland Park, KS.
