JOB PURPOSE: Nuvative is seeking a dedicated and experienced Compliance Manager to join our Legal and Compliance team. The Compliance Manager will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and maintaining our Compliance Management System (CMS) to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of compliance principles, including vendor risk management and complaint management, and will work collaboratively across departments to continually promote Nuvative's culture of compliance. The Compliance Manager will also create and conduct compliance training to educate employees about laws and regulations that apply to their respective roles and responsibilities, and develop procedures, policies, and best practices for operating within legal, ethical, and procedural guidelines. The successful candidate will be required to design methods for reporting and remediating any compliance concerns and ethical matters as they occur.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and monitor compliance policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct studies and stay informed as to any new laws, regulations, and industry trends that could impact the organization.
  • Conduct regular internal audits and testing and monitoring to ensure adherence to compliance standards.
  • Conduct regular compliance assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of the CMS and identify areas for improvement.
  • Organize and conduct training and awareness campaigns to communicate the importance of compliance policies to all employees.
  • Liaise with Human Resources to develop and implement control systems for dealing with violations of compliance guidelines and policies, including any corrective actions, in the event of a compliance violation.
  • Evaluate and revise existing compliance procedures to identify and resolve potential compliance risks.
  • Prepare and file compliance reports to appropriate regulatory bodies.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify, analyze, and mitigate business areas with existing risk exposure or escalating risks, including those associated with vendor relationships.
  • Oversee vendor risk management processes, including due diligence, risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring of third-party vendors.
  • Manage the complaint management process, ensuring that complaints are timely addressed and effectively resolved while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensure proper documentation of compliance initiatives.
  • Direct and supervise activities of compliance staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Law or other disciplines related to the compliance industry is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in compliance; specialty finance industry a plus.
  • Certification(s) from a recognized compliance body (e.g., CRCM), or the ability to obtain one within 1 year of employment, is preferred.Ability to provide training to company staff using effective and understandable language to communicate compliance objectives and procedures.
  • Effective at conducting research to identify and mitigate areas with a high degree of risk.
  • Skilled at producing compliance reports that are useful in making necessary business adjustments.
  • Proven experience in vendor risk management and complaint management processes.
  • Must have strong organizational, communication, and conflict management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong grasp of industry standards and existing consumer financial protection laws and regulations.
  • Excellent data organization and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to solve problems when they arise.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
