Compliance Manager
Reporting to the Director of Asset Management, the Compliance Manager will direct compliance activities related to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) licenses, dam safety, federal/state regulations, permitting, and general regulatory compliance throughout Brookfield Renewable's New York and Minnesota Region.
Responsibilities
* Provide leadership and guidance to a team of Compliance and Land Use Specialists as well as support Operations Managers, Project Managers, and Dam Safety Engineers in the execution of their work;
* Manage regulatory compliance with FERC, as well as corporate policies as they relate to dam safety, public safety, emergency planning, license and permit requirements, construction approvals and inspection programs;
* Oversee reporting for recurring regulatory requirements and in response to environmental, dam safety, or public safety incidents;
* Ensure Brookfield has efficient and effective processes to meet all regulatory requirements and make recommendations for improvements as needed;
* Document and communicate new and on-going license requirements to internal and external stakeholders;
* Manage amendments to FERC licenses and exemptions to support both capacity and non-capacity improvement projects;
* Manage environmental monitoring activities and studies related to generating assets;
* Develop and maintain productive working relationships with key regulators charged with ongoing regulatory oversight of Brookfield
* Ensure effective state agency/company collaboration benefiting Brookfield's development opportunities and ongoing operations;
* Participate in settlement group discussions with state and federal agencies and other groups for project licensing
* Participate in meetings and discussions with regulators and with advisory councils regarding routine compliance issues.
* Manage a budget consisting primarily of fees associated with engineering consultants, surveying fees, and vegetation management.
* Communicate regulatory changes to the operations team.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or environmental science combined with a minimum of seven (7) years of successful asset or project management experience in the renewable energy industry;
* Thorough knowledge of, and experience with, FERC-related and State/local licensing and compliance requirements and documentation;
* Demonstrated abilities in the licensing and compliance of hydroelectric facilities to assess/resolve complex issues, as well as working with various agencies/outside entities;
* Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering specifications, blueprints, drawings and related technical procedures, and effectively communicate findings orally and in writing;
* Experience managing and influencing people by successfully leading and directing teams;
* Demonstrated negotiation skills and strategic thinking;
* Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word and Excel.
Pay Range: $100,000-$135,000 with specified bonus
