**HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT:**
This role typical reports into the Sr Director, Quality Assurance, is based in our Skip Hop office in New York, and is on site 3 days a week.
30%: Provide Product Regulatory & Safety Documents for Customers & Distributors
+ Review retailer and distributor requests for test reports and compliance certificates.
+ Create certificates and Declarations of Conformity as needed. Provide Test Reports and Children's Product Certificates as requested. Sign documents on behalf of Skip Hop to certify that products are safe and conform to regulatory test requirements.
+ Create relevant documentation for Vendor sign-off (Prop65, REACH, CHCC, etc.)
+ International Distributor regulatory library: organize and update all international test reports, declarations of conformity and other relevant technical file documents in the distributor library such that documents are easy to access by our international distributors.
+ Provide ongoing support to distributors and retailers to negotiate and arrange custom testing beyond US and European standards.
30%: Product Safety & Regulatory Reviews
+ Review new products for potential safety issues related to regulations, customer complaints and quality. Provide design guidance to promote product safety.
+ Provide regulatory guidance for New Products: research and review regulations and testing standards for new products in development. Provide clear and accurate guidance to the Design and Development teams on mechanical, flammability and chemical requirements that could affect product design, engineering, and unit cost.
+ Provide guidance for packaging, instructions, warnings, and labeling as they relate to various government and industry regulations and standards.
+ Lead safety and regulatory meetings.
20%: Regulatory & Safety Testing / Documentation
+ Develop Regulatory Testing Requirements, covering all Skip Hop product categories for global distribution: US, Canada, Australia, Europe, as well as any special needs for states and/or countries within these territories. Build clear and detailed templates for the QA teams to follow.
+ Write Standard Operating Procedures and process documents to assure clear, effective, and efficient regulatory compliance processes are in place for the product lifecycle process. Documents include Regulatory Guidelines, Regulatory Test Requirement forms, Restricted Substances Lists, Declaration of Conformity templates, etc.
+ Budget: Approve all product testing quotations and invoices. Organize, monitor, and manage regulatory testing costs and invoices.
+ Product Registrations: Register products on online sites as needed for WERC, retailer-specific setups, etc.
+ Assist and advise China office personnel in diagnosing and troubleshooting testing failures, especially repeat offenses. Work with QC and Production to coordinate regular spot-checks of product quality and compliance. Review product testing history for compliance and repeat tests as required.
+ Communicate testing issues and On Hold status for new and replenishment products company-wide.
20%: Research & Organize all regulations and compliance standards
+ Regulatory Testing & Certification Library: Organize and maintain the SharePoint and Shared-drive libraries of all test results and Certificates as required by law. Be sure all test reports are clearly organized, labeled and easy to locate and provide for Skip Hop customers.
+ Regulation Library: Organize and maintain the SharePoint and Shared-drive libraries of all updated and relevant government regulations, industry standards and customer testing standards required to develop and manufacture safe and compliant products.
+ Track updates to relevant government standards for the US and Europe by following government and industry websites, reading regulations, and attending conferences. Provide clear and detailed direction to the Skip Hop team for product or packaging changes required by changing regulations.
+ Consult with third-party labs and governing bodies to clarify ambiguous and/or conflicting regulations.
**WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF:**
Must have:
+ 8+ years' experience in a related field Knowledge of CPSIA, ASTM and related regulations for toys and children's products hardgoods and soft goods, from lab and manufacturing perspectives
+ Some knowledge of toys manufacturing, plastics, electronics, etc.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to summarize and explain complex regulations in a simple manner for the Skip Hop organization
+ Ability to think and act independently and make sound decisions
+ Excellent organization skills
+ Good project management skills. Demonstrated ability to complete projects on time while managing multiple tasks / projects simultaneously
Preferred skills and experience:
+ 4-year technical degree
+ Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional peers and mentor junior associates
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and SharePoint
+ Proficiency with general computer software skills such as Adobe Acrobat, Internet searches (for regulations)
+ Compensation for this position ranges from $75,000 - $95,000 a year based on experience
