Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, risk management or related field
- 5 years' of experience supporting human resources and related systems and/or employment law matters
- 3 years' of experience devising HR compliance strategies and increasing the knowledge level of other key stakeholders through training and presentations
- Ability to determine data needed and understand the sensitive nature of the information being requested and shared
- Demonstrated knowledge of HR monitoring in the areas of: compensation, benefits and other employment practices; and federal and multi-state employment laws, including an understanding of the state/municipal regulatory framework required to ensure corporate compliance with employment laws
- Skill at distilling abstract concepts into clear, simple terms coupled with effective advice
Preferred Qualifications- 2 years of experience in HR compliance, Internal Audit, employment law or related field
- Human Resources background with audit experience
- Understanding of HR systems from a compliance perspective
- Experienced in creating standard operating procedures and process documents for testing Human Capital Management systems
Job SummaryAs an Compliance Monitoring Specialist (Human Resources), you'll be monitoring adherence to laws and regulations across various HR functions. You'll partner with legal and HR experts to develop and oversee compliance and risk mitigation strategies towards the fostering of a culture of organizational compliance and ethics.
Responsibilities- Establish and execute periodic audits of existing HR policies, ensuring remediation where potential compliance issues arise
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of HR processes, documentation and practices to identify areas of non-compliance or potential risk and develop strategies to mitigate risks
- Coordinate with internal counsel and senior leadership to develop and implement compliance testing or auditing procedures
- Implement audit / monitoring processes across the Human Resource function, ensuring ongoing periodic review of existing and new processes built across the team
- Facilitate any change in procedures and/or systems in support of federal, state, and municipal or other jurisdictional requirements
- Partner with internal counsel to monitor changes in employment laws, regulations and industry standards to ensure our policies and practices remain compliant
- Consult with counsel to understand legal requirements based on new and/or existing laws and communicate any necessary updates to relevant stakeholders
- Provide guidance on risk management practices to relevant stakeholders on the HR team
- Develop policies, practices and procedures that have a significant impact on the organization
- Oversee the development of compliance-related training sessions on a variety of HR compliance requirements, ethical standards and best practices
- Drive initiatives that address regulatory requirements that are aligned with team member life cycle events including recruiting, onboarding, team member development, team member experience, and off-boarding (team member moves and departures)
- Manage document retention compliance and workflows.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records related to HR Compliance activities including conducting audits, creating/updating policies/handbooks and practices, tracking to ensure required training is assigned and completed, and submitting required government reports
- Assist on employment-related legal team projects, as needed
