Job Description:

Balyasny Asset Management is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer for its New York office. The employee will report to a Senior Compliance Counsel and will work closely with both the Compliance and Legal Departments. The primary focus will focus on reviewing the firm's use of third-party research and data vendors, web scraping, consultant networks, and ad hoc requests to support the broader Compliance team and the firm's investment professionals.In the role of Compliance Officer, the employee will be responsible for the following:Partner with other team members responsible for research compliance while working closely with investment staff and others within the firmConduct due diligence reviews and prepare memoranda on potential data and research vendor relationships, with emphasis on the review of data vendor policies and procedures, their authorization to possess and license the data to clients, usage rights, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and international laws Review and approve expert networks requests from investment team members, chaperone expert network calls and document and track all calls and meeting notes Review, approve and track web scraping requests for compliance with firm policies Assist the Research Compliance team in addressing issues related to material non-public information and other research and data related mattersMonitor and stay current on applicable laws, regulatory initiatives, case law and changes in data privacy regulations Assist the Compliance Department with ongoing regulatory requirements and enforcing Compliance policiesEscalate matters to Compliance management as necessaryParticipate in ad-hoc requests as neededEducation/Experience & Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree required; JD is a plus Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal or compliance experienceExperience working in the financial services industry; prior experience with research and data vendor due diligence a plusHigh standard of professionalism in all dealings with internal staff and any external partners, clients, and regulatory agenciesStrong organizational and research skillsAbility to juggle multiple tasks when necessaryAbility to work independently and excel in a high intensity environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Outstanding attention to detail
