Compliance OfficerLocation: Bloomfield Hills, MI · Grand Rapids, MI · Remote · Full timeThe Compliance Officer will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of regulatory compliance within the dispensary. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for the cannabis industry.ResponsibilitiesLicensing and Permits:Obtain necessary state licenses for processing and distribution of cannabis.Secure local business permits, zoning permits, and any additional licenses required by city or county governments.Regulatory Compliance:Ensure compliance with state laws concerning product labeling, packaging, testing, and advertising.Adhere to health guidelines specific to the handling and sale of cannabis products.Security Measures:Implement security measures like surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and secure storage areas.Limit access to critical areas of the dispensary and maintain a log of personnel who enter secured areas.Banking and Financial Regulations:Be aware that cannabis remains illegal federally in the U.S., complicating banking and financial services.Work with banks or credit unions that are cannabis-friendly.Tax Compliance:Understand and comply with tax obligations, including IRS Section 280E.Advertising and Marketing Compliance:Comply with local and state advertising laws, including restrictions on promoting minors or making unverified health claims.Ensure product labeling meets all state-specific requirements.Policy Development:Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures.Create training materials and conduct training sessions for staff on compliance issues.Audits and Monitoring:Conduct regular audits of dispensary operations to ensure compliance with regulations.Identify areas of risk and recommend corrective actions.Reporting:Prepare and submit required compliance reports to regulatory agencies.Maintain accurate records of compliance activities and audits.QualificationsBachelor's degree in business, law, or a related field (preferred).Previous experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or a similar role; experience in the cannabis industry is a plus.Knowledge of local, state, and federal cannabis laws and regulations.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and compliance management software.#J-18808-Ljbffr
