**Open to All Qualified Candidates** (Open Until Filled) The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes across the State of Maryland. Nature of Work: The MDTA is seeking an Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Compliance Officer III to ensure a safe and compliant workplace for MDTA. The incumbent will provide technical guidance in safety and risk management, environment issues, and respond to emergencies to ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations. This position will also be responsible for the inspection of job work sites, hazardous conditions, equipment safety, and providing comprehensive safety training. The duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Frequently visit different facilities to conduct safety inspections and recommend corrective action for any safety violations, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations; Monitor and update Safety, Teamwork, Excellence, Action, Management (STEAM) system application; Assist with routine drug and alcohol testing program tasks; Prepare, present, and implement safety training to MDTA employees; Monitor CDL physical information to assist with ensuring MDTA CDL holders are physically qualified to operate commercial motor vehicles; Review appropriate database to ensure MDTA drivers motor vehicle records are up-to-date and initiate follow-up actions when updated driver information is needed; and Assist with program implementations and support efforts of Environment and Safety Committees. This position will report directly to the OSH Compliance Officer Supervisor. The current vacancy is in Baltimore, MD. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Two years of experience in the inspection of workplaces to ensure compliance and initiate enforcement of state and federal occupational safety and health laws, regulations, and standards. Notes: 1. Additional experience in the interpretation and application of fire, health, or safety regulations and the preparation of narrative reports documenting factual findings of inspections or investigations may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. 2. Thirty semester credit hours, including twelve credit hours in construction, engineering, fire, manufacturing, or occupational safety and health technologies, may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
