POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES
The Compliance Specialist ( CS ) plays a key role in supporting regulatory compliance. This position works with the CRCO to maintain and enhance dedicated and diligent compliance practices. Primary responsibilities include assisting with regulatory filings and inquiries, maintaining compliance records and a docketing calendar, managing claims adjuster, producer and reinsurance intermediary regulatory requirements, and supporting corporate governance activities.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDING
* Tracking all regulatory compliance reporting and filing requirements for the IFG Companies' corporate entities and insurance companies, including coordinating with other business units.
* Checking the status of deliverables.
* Maintaining and updating a master calendar of IFG Companies' compliance obligations.
* Organizing file and process documentation for the Compliance Department, while identifying and implementing improvement opportunities.
* Overseeing claims adjuster, producer and reinsurance intermediary licenses and appointments.
* Assisting with corporate governance, data call reporting, consumer complaints and regulator inquiries and exams.
* Monitoring industry news and developments, sharing communications with those impacted and, as appropriate, taking actions within the Compliance Department.
* Working with the CRCO to create training and reference materials.
* Other duties, as required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/CAPABILITIES
* Demonstrated strong experience and competency with U.S. based property/casualty insurance company regulatory compliance requirements and filings. Familiarity with the regulatory compliance needs of both non-admitted and admitted U.S. based property/casualty insurance companies is ideal.
* Competency in performing both online and hard copy regulatory research, including with state, federal and trade group resources.
* Excellent organizational and project management skills.
* A proactive mindset, with the ability to identify business needs and strategically manage competing priorities.
* The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* The ability to interact clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues and regulators.
* Strong computer skills, including Microsoft products (e.g., Excel, Word, SharePoint), and the ability and the willingness to learn new systems.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS
* Required: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university.
* Required: Minimum of four (4) years of experience with U.S. based property/casualty insurance company compliance.
* Preferred: Experience with both non-admitted and admitted U.S. based property/casualty insurance company compliance.
* A plus: Paralegal education and training.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
* Physical demands are considered to be that of a climate-controlled office environment, with minimal physical exertion.
* Position is hybrid and requires the ability and the willingness to work in an IFG Companies' Office at least three (3) days per week.
* Position requires prolonged sitting, extensive utilization of computers and interactions with others in person and via phone.
* Position requires the ability and the willingness to travel as the business needs.
