GLOBAL COMPLIANCE

Our division prevents, detects and mitigates compliance, regulatory and reputational risk across the firm and helps to strengthen the firms culture of compliance. Compliance accomplishes these through the firms enterprise-wide compliance risk management program. As an independent control function and part of the firms second line of defense, Compliance assesses the firms compliance, regulatory and reputational risk; monitors for compliance with new or amended laws, rules and regulations; designs and implements controls, policies, procedures and training; conducts independent testing; investigates, surveils and monitors for compliance risks and breaches; and leads the firms responses to regulatory examinations, audits and inquiries. You'll be part of a team with members from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds, such as law, accounting, sales, and trading. Global Compliance is organized broadly into various divisional compliance groups and centralized compliance groups. The Global Compliance Projects team is at the forefront of new business initiatives for Marcus Invest and the Wealth Management (WM) division more broadly.

Marcus Invest Business is responsible for developing and building the new consumer investment platform to enable the division to extend its investment capabilities to a wide range of customers in an automated and scalable way.

We are seeking an Associate, based out of the Dallas Office, to join our team and be part of growing the Marcus Invest offering.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

As a contributor to the Global Projects Team within WM Compliance, a successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and organizing Compliances involvement in various multi-year projects as well as being the key Compliance contact for working groups, developing subject matter expertise on regulations applicable to the Marcus Invest business. Additionally, the role will involve collaborating with the broader compliance team to deliver day-to-day advisory functions, including but not limited to: conducting due diligence reviews, performing gap analyses, and leading forensic reviews. As part of this team, primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing compliance advisory services for Marcus Invest initiatives. This includes completing timely approvals of public and client facing information and marketing materials to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Advising authors of advertising materials, including, but not limited to, Consumer Brand and Acquisitions teams with regard to applicable regulatory standards and company policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrating familiarity with channel specific acquisition strategies, including, but not limited to, display, videos, radio, email, podcast, sponsored content, paid search, and social media.
  • Educating and updating business partners on specific changes within the industry and applicable regulations affecting marketing material and approval process.
  • Driving risk management throughout the product development process alongside legal, design, engineering, marketing, and other teams to deliver new features and functionality for Marcus Invest that comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting in responding to regulatory requests, internal audit information requests, and requests from other team members.
  • Developing procedures, checklists, training materials, testing plans, and controls established to mitigate compliance risks.
  • Monitoring and conducting internal surveillances focused on ensuring product compliance.
  • Advising business unit and the client services team on general regulations, internal and external policies, and overall client issues.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Three to five years of legal, regulatory and compliance issues in the financial industry
