The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Neurosciences at the University of Minnesota is seeking a full-time, board-certified/eligible Ophthalmologist on the Clinician Track at the rank of Assistant Professor.
We seek an Ophthalmologist interested in teaching residents and staffing a clinical practice, particularly in an acute clinic and hospital consultation setting.
Position HighlightsThe partnership between the Lions, the Minnesota Lions Vision Foundation, and the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Neurosciences came to life in 1960 with the establishment of Lions Gift of Sight. Lions Gift of Sight is a full-service eye bank that is focused on providing donor eye tissue for transplant, research, and teaching, and promotes donation through education. Lions Gift of Sight has helped restore sight to more than 43,000 people by providing cornea tissue for transplantation and is one of the largest and most successful eye banks in the world. In addition, they've provided more than 39,000 corneas or eyes for basic research to help advance vision science. Lions Gift of Sight provides opportunities to truly implement bench to bedside for improving cornea health and outcomes for patients.
