General Summary:
The Comptroller is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the college, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and tribal regulations. This role plays a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity of the institution. This role also involves managing the accounting, banking and financial processes, as well as providing assistance to the Vice President of Business Affairs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
* Responsible for all Business Office operations to ensure accuracy and completion of daily tasks.
* Eventually monitor and approve all purchasing components (Kissflows, travel, purchase orders) and assist with Payroll.
* Assist the Office Manager with all the banking requirements.
* Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
* Assist with developing and implementing financial policies and procedures.
* Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
* Work with staff on grant drawdowns, reports, and other miscellaneous duties
* Assist Office Manager with Posting of transaction groups to make sure accurate.
* Supervise Business Office staff and provide training and guidance as needed.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial management, preferably in higher education or non-profit organizations.
* Experience applying accounting principles and financial regulations.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated computer experience, Excel required, etc. (Jenzabar preferred)
* Ability to carry out normal responsibilities and meet unusual situations with professionalism.
