JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

CNS is searching for one Drafter III to assist and support operations and practices. The Drafter III will utilize the latest version of AutoCAD software and Drawing Information Systems (DIS) to plan and design while adhering to the company standards manual.

Drafter III

Location: Montrose, Colorado

Time: Monday through Friday (no overtime unless authorized)

* Update the real-time power system network database to reflect the changes in the power system under GEXA/21 Transmission Security Management (TSM) platform.

* Utilize AutoCAD to create & Update SCADA display screens, one-one, overviews, line to line displays to reflect the changes in the power system-maintain standards and procedures for the database and displays.

* Update database for changes to the NSP model for accurate line connectivity and flow

* Test and document system changes in an off-line, development environment.

* Work with field technicians for point to point checkout on on-line operating environment and trouble shoot communications issues between SCADA and the field RTU's (Remote Terminal Units).

* Interface with Dispatch personnel and support team and provide support and trouble shoot issues with SCADA.

* Analyze and determine the correct system operating changes related to the transmission , distribution, and generation electrical system using data collected from engineering projects and available company diagrams.

* Coordinate & schedule work with Control System Operators, Energy Markets, field personnel, technicians, neighboring utilities, and other Database Specialists.

* Review peer database changes for implementation.

Additional Responsibilities,

Seeking someone who has excellent written and oral skills. The person who we hire will have a lot of time to shadow a co-worker and learn the Client Drafting software.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD to create & Update display screens, one-one, overviews, line to line displays to reflect the changes in the power system. Maintain standards and procedures for the database and displays.
  • Capability to Analyze and determine the correct system operating changes related to the transmission , distribution,and generation of electrical system using data collected from engineering projects and available company diagrams.

Required Education/Experience

  • Associates Degree
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
