Duties Description Operate print and post print processing equipment that produces output from various jobs submitted throughout the course of the day.
* Align and configure printers, pre, and post print processing equipment.
* Review print and post print processing instructions for correct and complete documentation of print jobs.
* Record, label, batch, and distribute printed output.
* Remove completed jobs from the system, conduct quality control checks and transport to mail center; assist mail center staff with sorting and distribution.
* Adhere to security procedures and requirements regarding the storage, transportation, utilization, disposition, and accountability of secure stock.
* Communicate to supervisors when supply levels require replenishing.
* Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of print and post print equipment.
* Diagnose and resolve issues on printer and post print processing equipment.
* Load print output (upwards of 50 lbs.) and use the pallet jack to move inventory throughout the facility.
* Monitor job console and hardware diagnostic displays to ensure systems are operating efficiently and customer on-line transactions, batch programs, and data transfers are properly executing.
* Initiate and monitor production jobs and communicate statuses to appropriate teams (e.g., scheduling staff etc.) for resolution.
* Collaborate with staff to ensure the full workflow is successfully completed.
* Review new applications and batch jobs for the completeness of documentation, adherence to standards, and impact on existing workloads and schedules.
* Conduct physical checks of the facility to ensure the building is safe and secure.
* Serve as a help desk consultant.
* Prepare (clean and mount) and assign physical and virtual media.
* Monitor tape silo robotic arm.
* Prepare media for transport to offsite storage.
* Document, erase, and prepare media for destruction.

High school or high school equivalency diploma and six months full-time experience in the operation of large scale/commercial printing equipment, a mainframe or medium to large server, multi-variable print production, or information technology related activities.
Competitive Minimum Qualifications:
You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program (see below), or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
For a 70.1 transfer to a Computer Operator, salary grade (SG)-10, you must have one year of permanent competitive service, or 55-b/55-c service in an approved title allocated to an SG-8 or above.

Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades or one M-grade.
