Preferred Qualifications -Should have at least two years' experience with working with the Arkansas child welfare computer system, CHRIS (CHildren's Reporting Information System) or a similar child welfare system. Should have knowledge of working with a software to track trouble tickets, such as the Department of Information Systems Cherwell Service Management system. Should have experience with completing Administrative tasks, such as setting up new user accounts and assisting users with password issues (reset/unlock/expired).

Summary
The Computer Support Technician is responsible for a wide range of activities related to computer support such as maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware and software systems. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Functions
Resolves hardware or software problems in response to user questions and requests for assistance by diagnosing the source of malfunctions, recommending corrective actions, and/or consulting with appropriate staff or vendor. Installs, configures, upgrades, or replaces microcomputer hardware and software for users. Evaluates and makes recommendations for necessary adjustments to applications to satisfy user requirements. Provides recommendations on the purchase of user hardware and software. Assists in planning, preparation, and conducting seminars on software, hardware, network or other computer related topics. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the limitations and use of mainframe and microcomputer hardware and software. Knowledge of current application software packages and programming concepts. Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and rectify software and hardware problems. Ability to analyze computer specifications and apply programming logic.
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education is equivalent to an associate degree in computer science, business systems, mathematics, or a related field.
OR
Completion of technical training in computer science, information technology, or a related field acquired from a vocational, military, or industrial setting; plus, one year of experience in computer support operations.
Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
