  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or technical college graduate preferred
  • Microsoft or other PC-repair certification preferred
  • Warranty program certification (Dell, HP, etc.) preferred
  • Relevant work experience will be considered as a substitute for a degree or certificat
EXPERIENCE:
  • Telephone/remote and other tech support experience
  • Four years successful experience with installing and maintaining Windows computers.
  • Familiarity with other operating systems (Apple, Android, etc.) preferred
Position Function/PurposeTo be the first responder of all technology issues at assigned campuses and district offices and provide excellent technology support to MISD staff and students. The technician will troubleshoot both hardware and software problems on various devices and expected to interact with district personnel both in-person and remotely to solve a variety of technical issues.essential Functions Instructional Management
  • Communicate with staff at assigned campuses and district offices both in-person and using the help desk work order system to maintain excellent technology support.
  • Troubleshoot various software issues on student and staff devices ranging from reinstalling programs to reimaging computers.
  • Repair various hardware issues on student and staff devices including desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, iPads, printers, document cameras, VoIP phones, and interactive TV panels.
  • Assist in communication between campus staff and other Technology department personnel to ensure various issues are addressed and repaired.
  • Resolve work orders in the help desk system in a timely manner.
  • Computer Systems1. Assist school or office personnel in installing various approved hardware and software and provide training in its use.2. Maintain technology inventory of stationary devices at assigned campuses and district offices.3. Assist with other Technology department responsibilities as needed.Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management1. Perform other duties as may be assigned or as may be necessary by the Technology Support Coordinator.Professional Growth and Development1. Observe professional and ethical standards in accordance with generally accepted community standards and the Texas Education Agency code of ethics.2. Secure advance training in any new equipment, software being considered for adoption by the district.3. Read the current literature in the field. Qualification Requirements
  • Knowledge of personal computer configuration, particularly the Microsoft Windows OS.
  • Familiarity with local area networks, wiring schemes, operating systems, and Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Knowledge of data storage and file back-ups.
  • Knowledge of data communication equipment and terminology.
  • Ability to communicate with school personnel, systems staff and computer technicians effectively and professionally either in-person, email, or via telephone. Ability to work well with a diverse population.
