This position conducts the operation of concrete, metals, and miscellaneous materials testing.

Job Duties: Examples of work for this specific vacancy include but are not limited to:

+ Responsible for operational aspects associated with the performance of laboratory testing of concrete, metals and miscellaneous materials per MnDOT, AASHTO, or ASTM procedures and specifications.

+ Reviews modifications to Mn/DOT, AASHTO, ASTM, or other applicable specifications and Mn/DOT Technical Memoranda and applies the procedural and or specification changes as required.

+ Informs supervisor regarding potential problems with current specifications and suggests changes.

+ Prepares tests reports, records the test results, performs computations, and checks specifications to insure complete and accurate records are maintained.

+ Calibrates and maintains equipment and maintains calibration records for accreditation.Calibrates equipment for Districts and the Maplewood lab.

**Minimum Qualifications**

The level of experience to perform this job at the TGS level can be achieved with:

+ Two years of experience performing materials testing.

OR

+ One year of experience performing materials testing or related activities and one year in construction inspection.

+ Note:A Two year Civil or Construction Technology Degree or the following four year degrees:Architectural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering; Land Surveying / Geomatics; or equivalent may substitute for one year of experience. (In order for education coursework to be considered in lieu of work experience you must submit a copy of your transcripts).

+ Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the general public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records.

+ Required certification or the ability to obtain the following within 6 months of hire:

+ American Concrete Institute (or MNDOT) Concrete Field 1 Certification

+ American Concrete Institute Concrete Strength Training Certification

+ American Concrete Institute Masonry Lab Testing Certification

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Previous MnDOT experience working as a Laborer, Transportation Associate or Transportation Generalist with documented satisfactory performance.
