Our employees enjoy a family-friendly workplace, competitive pay, and opportunities to grow professionally.We're looking for someone to be responsible for supervising inmates in the O'Fallon jail This person will collect identifying information from arrestees through verbal questioning and physical observation.As a Confinement Officer, your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining control of holdover facility through constant monitoring to ensure the safety and security of inmates and staff.
- Operating fingerprinting equipment to collect finger and palm prints.
- Verifying criminal charge codes to ensure correct charges are reported.
- Searching inmates to locate weapons or illegal substances.
- Completing bond sheets and collecting bond monies.
- Logging inmate property into the computerized database.
- Collecting medical information from arrestees.
- Serving inmate meals.
- Searching cells to locate and remove contraband.
- Properly securing and transporting prisoners both to and from other agencies and to the hospital, as needed.
- Issuing inmate uniforms.
- Processing inmates for release.
- Collecting state-required DNA samples.
- Laundering inmate clothing and bedding.
- Fingerprinting citizens.
- Administering medicines to inmates as appropriate.
- Photographing inmates.
- Operating breathalyzer equipment.
- Signing off on warrants.
- Writing reports and supplements to existing reports.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CONFINEMENT OFFICER
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Possess knowledge of jail policies and procedures, including state laws and regulations governing jail operations.
- Have knowledge of the constitutional rights of inmates, emergency operations procedures, and medical screening practices, including CPR and first aid.
- Ability to pass an extensive background check, including being able to provide credible testimony in municipal, state and federal court.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Missouri driver's license.
- No experience necessary!
