We are actively recruiting for Construction Administration Managers/Senior Construction Administration Managers to oversee the construction of substantial healthcare, research, and infrastructure initiatives situated in the UVA Health Precinct and Fountaine Park. CC&R plays a pivotal role in achieving Facilities Management's objectives, providing managerial support for design, engineering, construction services, and procurement across the University Community. Collaborating closely with the Office of the Architect for the University and Office of the University Building Officials, this role offers professional development opportunities and clear career pathways within Facilities Management.
Facilities Management supports the University of Virginia's wide range of academic, research, and patient care programs. With over 1,100 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for managing the University's Major Capital Construction and Renovations Program, the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of UVA's buildings, infrastructure, and grounds as well as other University owned and leased properties.
Position Summary:
Construction Administration Managers perform day to day construction phase management of projects for the University. They provide administrative and coordination during the construction phase of various projects at the University of Virginia's Academic and UVA Health Division. A portfolio will include a limited number of more complex projects or several smaller projects. Construction Administration Managers facilitate the efforts of architects, engineers, contractors, and various University departments and State agencies. They promote completion of non-capital and smaller capital projects by developing, monitoring, and managing project requirements. Construction Administration Managers work autonomously on routine management and correspondence concerning construction from inception through project close out, however, they report to and receive guidance from Team Leaders.
Senior Construction Administration Managers perform construction phase management on significant or logistically challenging projects for both the Academic and UVA Health Divisions at the University. A portfolio will include a single major project or group of projects with superior importance, size, or complex functionality. Senior Construction Administration Managers coordinate the involvement of other University departments and State agencies at various stages of construction to ensure compliance and technical approval is received and does not affect budget or schedule. They promote completion of major capital projects by developing, monitoring, and managing complex project requirements and providing advanced construction administration management services from contract award through close out of new and renovated University facilities. Senior Construction Administration Managers work autonomously on management and routine correspondence concerning construction; however, they report to and receive guidance from Team Leaders.
Responsibilities for the Construction Administration Manager include:
* Receiving project assignments and review with the project team and the customers their goals and objectives for the project.
* Ensuring contractors comply with negotiated contract documents.
* Issuing daily report, noncompliance notices, and cost issue log.
* Reviewing preliminary and final plans; make recommendations for improving engineering details and construction practicality.
* Overseeing the occupancy, turn over and close-out processes.
* Determining construction progress and resolve construction problems with the project manager, architect, and contractor.
* Demonstrated proven ability to work with registered engineers, architects, and project managers to facilitate successful construction.
* Providing excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, as well as demonstrated professionalism, accuracy, and follow through in work assignments.
* In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
In addition to the above, responsibilities for the Senior Construction Administration Manager also include:
* Executing development of the construction phase and provide comprehensive construction administration management services on major capital projects.
* Assigning project personnel to specific phases of construction or aspects of construction administration management.
Required Qualifications for the Construction Administration Manager:
* Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; in lieu of degree is acceptable
* Four (4) years' of relevant experience in construction management. Without Bachelor's degree, must have eight (8) years of progressively more responsible experience.
* Professional licensure as an architect or engineering professional preferred for both roles.
Required Qualifications for the Senior Construction Administration Manager:
* Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
* Seven (7) years' of progressively more responsible experience in construction management of large complex institutional, healthcare, or commercial buildings.
Selected candidates will be required to pass a background check and health screen.
Anticipated Salary:
* Construction Administration Manager is $85,000; actual starting salary will be commensurate with experience.
* Senior Construction Administration Manager is $115,000; actual starting salary will be commensurate with experience.
