Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Construction Administrator is responsible for assisting with implementation during the construction phase of one or more pipeline and/or facility water, wastewater, and recycled water projects. This is an entry level position which will assist with effective and efficient management of the construction contract, monitoring and maintenance of project status and accurate reporting, maintenance of project data in CPMS, participation in construction progress meetings, coordination with other departments and groups, and disciplined project documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Assists with implementation during the construction phase of one or more projects through coordination of internal and external resources.
* Assists with the administration of projects under construction, coordinates with contractors, field inspectors, consultants, and SAWS staff across various departments and groups.
* Monitors construction progress, budget, and schedule for projects.
* Monitors quality of the construction work, reviews submittals and shop drawings, reviews analytical test reports; assures conformance to Contract Documents and SAWS standards; prepares contract amendments; reviews requests for information and requests for proposals, prepares and negotiates change orders.
* Reviews project schedules, identifies critical path, and interprets interdependencies between tasks and activities.
* Prepares letters, memoranda, and reports for projects.
* Provides timely and accurate reports regarding project status.
* Maintains project documentation and data in CPMS as well as the project folder.
* Conducts site visits, as time allows, to monitor construction progress.
* Assists with the negotiation of contracts, settlements, and issues with SAWS contractors.
* Facilitates conversations, builds consensus, and applies leadership skills.
* Participates in local, regional, state, and national professional organizations and associations.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or related field from an institution accredited by a recognized accrediting agency.
* Valid Class C Texas Driver's License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are in an office environment but may include frequent field visits depending on area of assignment.
