In this role, you will be responsible for visiting all thrift shops weekly, and as scheduled. The Construction Assistant will check in with the Thrift Managers for all repairs needed and will provide repair updates upon completion. They will conduct weekly checkups on all plumbing, heating, and electrical units within the Thrift Shops. The Construction Assistant will complete all open work orders in a timely manner and follow-up on the progress of all previous repairs. They will assist and prepare materials for upcoming Construction & Engineering Team Projects or Events. The Construction Assistant will meet weekly, with their direct supervisor (supervision) to review and close out previous weeks' repairs, plan, organize and prepare for upcoming repairs or projects, discuss open items, order supplies, and submit receipts.Responsibilities: Primary Job Functions
- Assist with plumbing repairs, door locks, electrical installations, laying out of tools, and performing several other facilities related repairs such as painting, plastering, and utilizing sheet rock.
- Prepare and clean work sites, while also ensuring that safety rules and regulations are strictly adhered to.
- Carry out a variety of assigned tasks at company facilities which may include assisting the Construction & Engineering Team and supervisors.
- Removal of trash, debris, and other potentially dangerous materials from repair locations.
- Service and operate power and/or hand tools, and several other construction equipment tools such as power drills and painting tools.
- Assist Construction & Engineering Team in determining and preparing essential materials for repairs and upgrades.
- Assist in preparing for any/all new projects.
- Provide clear communication to direct supervisor and facility/thrift store managers.
- Work with facility managers, thrift managers, and site superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, and building officials to manage projects and meet construction deadlines, architectural requirements, building codes and owner tenants/expectations.
- Schedule, plan, and execute daily work order repairs.
- Relate to and be patient toward clients with special needs.
- Good listening skills, since as the Construction Assistant must be able to follow instructions and ensure that tasks are executed efficiently and effectively.
- Be able to respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work in the field and office.
- Visit other sites and offices as required.
Construction and engineering skills:
- The Construction Assistant is responsible for assisting the Construction & Engineering Team conduct a variety of tasks such as cleaning work areas, unloading materials, preparing worksites, cleaning debris, and executing other tasks as assigned.
- The Construction Assistant is responsible for providing daily, weekly, and monthly reports to their supervisors.
- Must be willing to work overtime hours.
- Be able to travel to appointments, meetings, conferences, etc. for job-related business.

Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Trade Certifications a plus
- Must have at least 2-4 years of work experience in building trade skill sets such as carpentry, painting, electrical, and plumbing.
- Must have a valid New York State driver's license.
- Must have good organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
