The Bid Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for multifamily and commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of construction materials and methods, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and clients. As a key member of the team, the Bid Estimator will play an essential role in ensuring projects are accurately estimated and executed within budget and on time.Who we are: MFCC is a full-service construction company specializing in commercial and multifamily projects. MFCC prides itself on transparent communication, detailed budgeting, and strategic planning, making it a trusted partner in multifamily construction.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for multifamily and commercial construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Quantity Takeoffs: Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from architectural drawings, blueprints, and specifications to calculate the necessary materials and labor required for each project.
  • Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination: Solicit, review, and analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers. Evaluate bids for accuracy and completeness, and negotiate the best pricing for the project.
  • Budget Management: Work closely with project managers to ensure that estimated costs align with project budgets. Track costs and identify potential areas for cost-saving opportunities.
  • Proposal Development: Prepare and submit bid proposals, ensuring they are compliant with client requirements and industry standards. Present clear, concise, and detailed bids to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Market Research & Pricing: Stay up-to-date on current market pricing for labor, materials, and equipment. Research industry trends and pricing to ensure competitive and accurate bids.
  • Client Interaction: Work closely with clients to review project scope, discuss cost estimates, and address any questions or concerns they may have regarding the project.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of bids, estimates, and project costs, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for the team.
The ideal candidate should possess:
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on multifamily and commercial projects.
    • Proven track record of preparing accurate bids and estimates for construction projects.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Proficiency in construction estimating software, such as ProEst, Bluebeam, Exactimate,or similar tools. ProCore is a plus!
    • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and labor costs.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and project specifications.
    • Excellent math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills to effectively collaborate with subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
