Job Title: Construction Coordinator Reports to: Project Manager & Vice President of Construction Company Overview DTN is a 50 year old vertically integrated real estate firm based in Lansing, MI. We are one of Michigan's largest and well respected construction, development and ownership companies of multifamily real estate properties. Through our development and operations team, DTN seeks to create and deliver unique experiences for those choosing a DTN home or apartment. As the Construction Coordinator, you will influence and guide the experience for those that visit a DTN owned or managed community. Job Summary The Construction Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects. This role involves collaborating with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure that all project components are aligned and progressing according to the project schedule. The Construction Coordinator will assist in maintaining project documentation, tracking project progress, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. As a Construction Coordinator, your primary responsibilities include:
  • Project Coordination
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of project schedules and timelines
    • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services
    • Monitor and report on project progress, addressing any delays or issues
    • Ensure that all construction activities align with project plans, specifications, and contract requirements
    • Maintain Buildertrend project tracking system
    • Coordinate project requests for information (RFI's) and submittals
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including permits, contracts, drawings, and reports
    • Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports
    • Track and document changes to project scope and schedule
    • Assist in the preparation of project budgets and cost estimates
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Serve as a liaison between the project manager, subcontractors, and other stakeholders
    • Facilitate effective communication and coordination among all parties involved in the project
    • Attend and participate in project meetings, taking notes and distributing minutes as needed
  • Quality Control
    • Assist in managing construction punch lists
    • Assist in conducting site inspections and audits to identify potential quality issues
  • Procurement and Resource Management
    • Assist in sourcing and ordering materials, equipment, and services required for projects
    • Track inventory and manage the distribution of materials on-site
    • Ensure that resources are utilized efficiently and cost-effectively
  • Core Candidate Qualities:
    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
    • 2-5 years of experience in construction coordination or a similar role
    • Strong understanding of construction processes, methods and materials
    • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Buildertrend, Procore or similar)
    • Excellent organizations and time management skills
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Knowledge of best practices in construction
    • Ability to read and interpret constructions drawings, engineering drawings and specifications
    • Can do attitude and collaborative mindset - We all succeed by working as a team

    • Desire to provide great customer outcomes
    • Proficient with computers and various software platforms including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Reliable transportation to get to work daily and conduct daily job responsibilities
    Working Conditions:
    • This position may require working in both office and field environments
    • Ability to work in various weather conditions and on active construction sites
    • May involve occasional lifting of materials and equipment
