The cost accountant is responsible for the financial health of construction projects, overseeing and managing the financial aspects of projects within the organization. Individuals will have construction project accounting, budgeting, and cost control experience. They collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure accurate and timely reporting of company project financials. This role is open for mid and senior level individuals, so the compensation package is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include:
- Develop &maintain project budgets, including forecasting and tracking expenses throughout the project lifecycle
- Tracking costs: track and record all expenditures for a project, including labor, materials, equipment, insurance, and consulting fees.
- Managing budgets: ensure that projects stay within budget and meet financial forecasts. They establish and maintain project budget tracking systems.
- Collaborating with project managers to develop financial plans and provide financial insights.
- Preparing tax returns and conducting audits to ensure that financial practices comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Communicating with subcontractors and vendors to ensure invoicing is submitted as per contractual terms.
- Maintaining records of meetings, open items, and decisions.
- Track and report on the status of project completion progress.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or similar experience
- Five (5) or more years of Project Accounting experience
- Microsoft Excel and experience with relevant construction industry software
