Job Description:

L.J. Gonzer Associates is looking for individuals to join our pool of qualified candidates for potential assignment as a Construction Engineer. The Construction Engineer will support our client's large-scale construction activities. Field visits to various sites throughout the Five Boroughs will be required. Responsibilities of the Construction Engineer: Provide field support during construction and design. Ensure work complies with contract documents. Complete all required contract documents. Support the inspection and quality control/quality assurance furnishing and installing of all material and equipment during contract close-out. Support project managers during construction and design. Work with the Resident Engineer to execute project goals. Support Project Manager Consultant / Consultant Construction Manager. Attend project coordination meetings with stakeholders, prepare meeting minutes and follow up on action items. Ensure all personnel comply with safety requirements of the contract. Prepare reports regularly and in a timely manner, including, but not limited to: Daily reports, quality and safety check lists, field condition survey reports, field sketches, scope of work for change orders, estimates, additional work order packages, and other reports as required by the Construction Manager/PCEO. Prepare, submit, and coordinate necessary requests for services, such as flagging, access & protection, etc. Supervise employees and manage project budget, schedules, and construction activities.Requirements of the Construction Engineer: A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline. Five years of experience performing project management work such as planning, managing, coordinating, or expediting for large and/or complex projects. OSHA-30 Certification must be obtained prior to starting the job, but is not required to apply. 8-hour Lead Awareness Course must be completed prior to starting the job, but is not required to apply. Knowledge and/or experience with capital construction procedures, field operations, construction scheduling and estimating. The ability to coordinate with a multitude of users such as operations and engineering personnel. Ability to read and interpret contract drawings & specifications. Proficient in MS Word, Access, and Excel. Computer Aided Design & Drafting experience is preferred. Clear written and verbal communication skills.
