Salary Information Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. \nA starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations \n Nature of Work \nThe fundamental reason this class exists is to\nsupervise Construction and Heavy Equipment Operators in the installation,\nconstruction, maintenance, repair, and demolition of streets, storm outfalls,\nlarge drainage structures, pre-cast bridges, residential and commercial\nstructures, and landfill cells. The\nwork responsibilities of the position are: supervise two or more full-time\nemployees; direct the installation, repair, maintenance, construction, and\ndemolition of concrete structures, parking lots, play areas, drainage ditches, and landfill\ncells; estimate materials, labor, time and equipment for proposed construction,\nmaintenance, repair, and demolition projects; answers citizens' complaints\nconcerning maintenance work on public property. Supervision is received\nfrom administrative superiors. The employee must rely on independent judgment\nto solve most technical problems.\n\n Minimum Qualifications High\nschool diploma or G.E.D. and five (5) years of experience in the maintenance,\nrepair and construction of streets, bridges, and drainage structures with at\nleast two years of experience operating construction equipment. Construction equipment experience is defined\nas experience operating equipment such as dozers, compactors, excavators, or\nmotor graders.\nNOTE:\nQualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite\nknowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.\n Special Requirements \nMust have and maintain a valid driver's license\nand insurable driving record as needed to operate City vehicles. Must be able to work overtime, weekends and\nbe on-call 24 hours, as needed for special projects and for emergencies\nsituations. Some positions may require\nthe possession of a Class A or B CDL in order to operate equipment. Incumbents of the Landfill position are\nrequired to obtain ADM's Landfill Operator Certification after one (1) full\nyear of employment.\n\n\n Kind of Examination Applications are being accepted to fill one (1) vacancy and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the register.
