Commercial Estimator
Job Summary
The Commercial Estimator plays a vital role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) projects in commercial buildings. This position involves analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project details to calculate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. The role requires proficiency in HVAC design software, a deep understanding of commercial building codes and industry standards, and the ability to build and maintain strong vendor and subcontractor relationships.
Essential Functions

- Analyze project plans, specifications, and blueprints to estimate costs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Prepare detailed, professional proposals in response to customer bid solicitations.
- Source and negotiate pricing with vendors and subcontractors while maintaining positive relationships.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop budgets and schedules of values (SOV) for awarded projects.
- Utilize estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite for accurate calculations and documentation.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Work Environment
- Based at the Lawrenceville, GA corporate office.
- Frequent job site visits and customer meetings are required.
Physical Demands
- This role requires regular physical activity, including using hands and fingers, walking, stooping, and kneeling.
- Ability to lift/move up to 10 lbs. regularly, 50 lbs. frequently, and occasionally more than 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders unassisted and wear OSHA-required personal protective equipment.
Position Type and Expected Hours
- Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Occasional after-hours support or site visits may be required.
Travel
- Limited overnight travel for training or work (less than 10%).
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum age: 18 years old.
- Clean driving record and current driver's license.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the commercial HVAC industry.
- Proficiency with handheld devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets) and computers, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and participate in a drug-free workplace.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Associate's degree in a related field.
- PMP Certification or formal project management training.
- OSHA 10/30 Certification.
