Position Overview:A construction estimator is responsible for analyzing construction plans and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects. They must have a strong understanding of construction processes and materials, as well as experience in bidding and managing projects. The ideal candidate will also have experience in healthcare, higher-education, K-12, and Commercial construction projects.Key Responsibilities:
- Review construction plans and specifications to accurately estimate project costs
- Collaborate with project managers and contractors to determine project scope and requirements
- Prepare and submit bids for construction projects
- Conduct site visits to gather information and assess project needs
- Analyze and compare subcontractor and supplier bids, negotiating to obtain the best prices and services
- Create and maintain project budgets and schedules
- Monitor and track project costs and expenses
- Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and team members
- Provide expertise and guidance on cost-saving measures and value engineering solutions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction and estimating
- Strong understanding of construction processes and materials
- Experience in bidding and managing construction projects
- Knowledge of healthcare, higher-education, K-12, and Commercial construction projects
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in construction estimating software
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
