About the Role:
Your goal: to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for Tilt-Up projects and large TIs within the industrial sector. This role involves analyzing project plans and specifications, collaborating with subcontractors and suppliers, and developing comprehensive project estimates. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Tilt-Up construction and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimate Preparation:
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare early ROM budgets, estimates, and detailed hard bids.
- Consult with engineers, architects, designers, consultants, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Review and assess the scope of work, identifying any discrepancies.
- Review any building department and local requirements that have jurisdiction.
- Initiate the RFI process as needed during the bid phase.
- Cost Analysis:
- Conduct quantity takeoffs and prepare cost breakdowns for various construction components.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency in cost calculations.
- Monitor market trends and pricing to stay up-to-date with industry standards and cost fluctuations.
- Obtain all applicable utility/services costs and availability.
- Subcontractor and Supplier Coordination:
- Solicit and perform a detailed review of subcontractor and supplier bids.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
- Evaluate and compare subcontractor proposals to ensure alignment with project requirements and budget constraints.
- Determine lead time, material availability, and cost impacts that could affect the project.
- Project Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure accurate and thorough estimates.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather essential information for estimate preparation.
- Provide support during project handoff, ensuring a smooth transition from estimation to project execution.
- Review and analyze change order requests from subcontractors.
- Review as-builts and close out documents for general compliance with contract drawings and specifications
- Create scopes of work for all trades.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar construction-related 4-year degree is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience as a Construction Estimator, with specific experience in Tilt-Up construction within the industrial sector.
- Extensive experience analyzing construction drawings and other documentation to prepare project estimates.
- Thorough understanding of construction processes, materials, and methods specific to Tilt-Up construction.
- Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProCore, MS Project, or similar tools).
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work both independently and alongside our team.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
