ESTIMATOR This position is responsible for the development of project estimates. In this role you will...
  • Review identified business opportunities with Estimating Manager in order to determine necessary personnel to successfully complete the estimate.
  • Ensure that any bid bonds (if required) have been requested in a timely manner, all scopes of work have proper subcontractor support, and any necessary information that has to be submitted as part of the proposal (i.e. reps & certs) is ready for submission with the estimate.
  • Review all estimates prior to submission to ensure that all scopes of work are accounted for in the proposal. Verify that all bid documents are included in the proposal.
  • Develop a scheduling plan for each project with respective Project Manager.
  • Oversee the development of a proposal schedule for each estimate, if required.
  • Assist with estimating change orders as needed.
  • Oversee the coordination between the Cost/ Estimating Management personnel, Schedule Management personnel and each Project Management Team.
  • Take responsibility of project from decision to pursue through contract award.
As the ideal candidate you...
  • Have previous construction management experience.
  • Have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field.
  • Are able to plan, organize and communicate with customers/ stakeholders.
Note: Definition - Customers/ Stakeholders are Owner, Architect, Engineer, Subcontractor, Supplier, Public Officials, any other entity associated with the project and respective entities' personnel.
  • Have proven successful project history. (Cost, Customer Service, Quality, Safety and Schedule)
  • Work as employment necessitates.
  • Have working knowledge of MS Office Suite, MS Project, Primavera, OnScreen Takeoff, SmartBid (or other bid management software)

  • Managing the estimates for $25 - 200M/ year of estimates.
  • Dependability in meeting attendance guidelines. Manage schedule and assigned personnel schedules.
  • Participation in the analysis, deployment, implementation and maintenance of company policies and procedures.
  • Showing initiative in seeking increased responsibilities and volunteer readily for additional assignments when needed.
  • Effectively perform employment responsibilities balancing the utilization of time versus costs.
  • Being progressive in increasing job knowledge and exhibit ability to learn and apply new skills.
  • Making timely decisions using sound and accurate judgment while keeping appropriate people informed in the decision process.
  • Identifying problems, gathering and analyzing information skillfully. Consults with entities associated and affected by issue.
  • Continually reviewing progress of projects to verify requirements are achieved and identify issues for resolution early in project lifecycle.
  • Organizing and prioritizing work activities while utilizing efficient time management skills in meeting deadlines or staying on schedule with projects.
  • The use of strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of employees, Ross Group management, and outside partners such as owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Educate staff on company policies and procedures, providing what an employee's requirements are and providing why the policy or procedure was implemented.
  • Meet established goals while demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness to ensure quality of work.
