As a Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing and coordinating comprehensive construction estimates for transportation projects across our regions. You will engage with a variety of conventional and alternative contracting methods on projects ranging from straightforward highway rehabilitation to some of the region's most complex mega-projects. Our transportation projects encompass roadway, bridge, and retaining wall constructions, as well as underground systems including drainage, waterline, and sanitary installations.Estimating ResponsibilitiesReview proposals, specifications, and drawings; attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to determine scope and estimate requirements.Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, determine cost-effective construction methods, and complete full cost estimates.Compare estimated costs to historical data and evaluate construction methods for best value.Coordinate with estimators and operations managers to ensure comprehensive and responsive estimates.Collaborate with clients, design partners, vendors, and stakeholders to develop cost-effective solutions.Analyze geotechnical reports to assess impact on operations and costs.Determine optimal materials based on project constraints.Review and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes.Prepare CPM schedules and monitor client document changes.Manage clarification correspondence with clients and prepare bid documents.Track job-cost data and support project operations on change orders.Maintain records and documents for estimating models and templates.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExperience in estimating/engineering roles on public and private construction projects preferred.Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage multiple projects with effective time management.Independent and team-oriented work capabilities.Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.Knowledge of State DOTs and proficiency in Primavera P6, Excel, Word, and Bluebeam preferred.Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software preferred.Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.5 years of related experience preferred if not degreed.Minimum 3 years of estimating experience on heavy civil projects preferred.Experience with HCSS HeavyBid Estimating Software preferred.#M1System One, and its subsidiaries including Joulé, ALTA IT Services, CM Access, TPGS, and MOUNTAIN, LTD., are leaders in delivering workforce solutions and integrated services across North America.
