Construction Estimator (Greater Tampa Bay Area) Become part of a growing business in the exciting construction industry. R.E. Floyd Construction is a growing General Contractor and Construction Management Firm specializing in Community Clubhouses, Amenities, Hardscapes, and commercial construction throughout the west coast of Florida since 1984. We are currently looking to fill the position of Construction Estimator. We are looking for a highly motivated and energetic individual to grow with us and become a leader in their field. As a construction estimator, you will be responsible for determining the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities and labor for construction projects as well as overseeing project schedules, overseeing subcontractors and vendors bids and submittals, material procurement, working with inspectors and municipalities on permitting, problem-solving and customer management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Communication & Collaboration Effectively collaborate with Executives and Project Managers regarding bids, contract documents, schedules, material procurment, change orders, contract modifications and approvals. Communicate with Executives and Project Managers to ensure all subcontract documents are fully executed. Communicate and collaborate with subcontractors during pre-construction, construction, and job close-out phases of project. Documents & Applications Prepare and estimate budget costs for construction projects by studying plans and specifications. Vetting of subcontractor pre-qualifications and pre-bid submissions. Create Bid Packages, solicit subcontractors and vendors for bids and develop additional vendor base. Resolve cost difference by analyzing and collecting information. Compile and issue subcontracts and change orders. File and maintain fully executed contract documents. Create approve subcontractor/vendor packages for jobs to be turned over to Project Managers. Track project submittals between vendors and architect. Obtain material samples for customer approvals. Project Assistance Review and track construction subcontracts, work orders and purchase orders for multiple projects. Assist in the development and enhancement of project reporting. Develop project schedules. Assist with special projects as requested. Support subcontractors with documents process. Liason with customers and vendors for project bidding, contracting and scheduling. General Office Duties Work with customers and design professionals Work with building officials and municipalities Identify potential problems with plans and specifications and find a resolution Procure materials for jobs from various suppliers Resolve specification, selection and plan conflicts and design professionals Maintain a positive and professional relationship with all potential and existing customers Perform all other duties assigned Role Competencies · Strategic Orientation – Sees the big picture. Assess needs and anticipate problems, and prioritize to meet deadlines Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in related field or Minimum 3 years' experience in construction related field Proficient with Microsoft Platform (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint) Strong knowledge with square foot and square yard dimensions Knowledge of Geometry/Math Data entry experience Experience reading construction blueprints Budget Management experience Bidding and plan take-off experience General Knowledge of residential and commercial construction Strong customer service skills Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines Cooperative attitude Position Details: Job Type : Full-time Hours: 7:30-4:30 Monday-Friday. Please Note : This is a role that possible traveling around west Florida may be required.
