As a leader in the industry, we are looking for a Senior Estimator with significant experience in large commercial construction to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a growing company with a reputation for excellence and a healthy backlog of projects.
Job Summary:The Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate estimates for large commercial projects, including design-build, complex developments, and specialized facilities such as healthcare and institutional buildings. This role requires a high level of expertise in cost estimation, an in-depth understanding of construction processes, and the ability to work closely with project teams and clients to deliver competitive and reliable bids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the estimating efforts for large commercial projects valued at $40M and above.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates from conceptual through to final design, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Review and analyze construction drawings, specifications, and other project documents to assess project requirements and scope.
- Manage the full estimating process, from conceptual budgeting to final proposal preparation, ensuring alignment with the client's objectives and requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams (project managers, designers, and procurement) to develop strategies for design-build and negotiated projects.
- Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to solicit bids, assess proposals, and negotiate pricing.
- Provide value engineering solutions to enhance cost efficiency and optimize project budgets.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Assist in pre-construction planning and risk management.
- Ensure all estimates align with company standards and procedures.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators and other team members.
- Stay current with industry trends, innovations, and market conditions to provide competitive, accurate, and forward-thinking estimates.
Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience in estimating large commercial construction projects, preferably $40M and above.
- Proven track record in estimating for diverse market types, including healthcare, office buildings, education, and mixed-use developments.
- Strong experience with design-build projects and managing the estimating process from conceptual to final bid.
- Proficiency with industry-leading estimating software (ProEst, Sage, or similar) and strong Microsoft Office Suite skills.
- Deep understanding of construction materials, methods, and cost control practices.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field is preferred.
- Professional certifications (e.g., Associate in Project Management, Certified Cost Professional) are a plus.
